Pokemon GO is celebrating the upcoming Pokemon movie, Pokemon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle, coming out worldwide on Netflix on Friday, October 8th. To commemorate this, players can participate in the Secrets of the Jungle event. It will be running from Friday, October 1st at 10:00 AM to Sunday, October 10th at 8:00 PM in players' local times.

One of the biggest parts of this event is the introduction of the mythical Pokemon, Zarude, to Pokemon GO. Alongside it though are special Pokemon spawns and event exclusive field research tasks that can be gotten from spinning any PokeStop.

By completing the field research tasks, players can earn a variety of Pokemon encounters as well as helpful Berries. Completing these tasks isn't a requirement in the event's special research, so players can take them at their own pace.

There isn't a prize for completing all of the event's field research tasks, but there is a research breakthrough available for October 2021 if players reach seven days of completed field research tasks. This time the Pokemon serving as the prize is Yamask, a pure Ghost-type Pokemon.

The Yamask players can get is the original one from the Unova region, not its Galarian varient. Its typing makes it only weak to Ghost and Dark-type moves while also resisting damage from Poison, Bug, Normal, and Fighting-type moves. If given 50 Yamask Candies, it can evolve into Cofagrigus.

This event has a few other prizes for players to claim before the time limit runs out. One of these is the Adventure Hat and Wailmer Water Bottle accessory items for players' trainer avatars available from the trainer clothing shop in-game. These items are completely free, but it is unknown just how long they will remain for players to claim.

Another thing for players to keep their eyes out for in the Secrets of the Jungle event is the Explorer Pikachu. This costumed Pikachu can be found wearing its very own Adventure Hat and Wailmer Water Bottle, with some lucky players having the chance to find it also in its shiny form. Players will only have until the event's end to search for it.

Pokemon GO is available on Android and iOS.
