Pokemon GO Players Are Divided Over Major Feature Addition

Pokemon GO quietly releases a new quality-of-life game update, and while many players are praising it, some feel pessimistic about its execution.

One of the first-limited time events coming as part of Pokemon GO's Shared Skies season is Scorching Steps, which will run from Friday, June 21 at 10:00am local time to Tuesday, June 25 at 8:00pm. During the event, Pokemon GO players can look forward to 2x candy from hatching eggs, 1/2 egg hatch distance for eggs placed in incubators, and 1/4 egg hatch distance for the first three eggs added to the Pokemon GO egg hatching widget after the event is live. Additionally, Pokemon GO players have increased odds of finding shiny variants of Slugma and Litleo, with shiny Larvesta also making its debut.

Those wanting to add shiny Larvesta to their collection should note that the Pokemon will primarily be available through 2 km, 5 km, and 10 km eggs during the event. Hatching a shiny Larvesta will be extremely rare, so the odds of getting a shiny are low, but Pokemon GO players are encouraged to give it a shot while the event is still active. Besides Larvesta, the Pokemon GO egg pools will consist of other Fire-type Pokemon.

The Pokemon GO egg pools aren't the only thing getting a shake-up during the Scorching Steps event. Players can also look forward to special Field Research tasks that give them encounters with Slugma, Litleo, and Turtonator. Timed Research that challenges players to hatch eggs will snag them additional encounters with Fire-type Pokemon, plus Stardust and bonus XP.

Any Pokemon GO players needing to add some Fire-type Pokemon to their collection should definitely be sure to participate in the Scorching Steps event while it's live from June 21 to June 25. In the meantime, there will be other limited-time events for Pokemon GO players to look forward to as well, though details on what those will entail have not been announced at the time of this writing.
