Pokemon GO is in the midst of the Season of Alola, in which it is slowly introducing Pokemon from the Alola region to the popular augmented reality mobile game. So far, all the new Generation 7 Pokemon added to Pokemon GO as part of the Season of Alola have been available across the board, but that will be changing soon with the introduction of a new region-exclusive Pokemon.

Pokemon GO is kicking off its limited-time Festival of Colors event starting Tuesday, March 15 at 10:00am local time and until Sunday, March 20 at 8:00pm local time. During the event, Pokemon GO players will have the first opportunity to catch Generation 7 Pokemon Oricorio, but there's a twist. A different version of Oricorio will be available to Pokemon GO players depending on what region of the world they're in, effectively making it a region exclusive Pokemon even though it will still only take up one Pokedex slot.

Pokemon GO players in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa will be able to get Baile Style Oricorio, while those in the Americas will have the chance to catch Pom-Pom Style Oricorio. Those in African, Asian, Pacific, and Caribbean islands can catch Pa'u Style Oricorio, while those in the Asia-Pacific region can get Sensu Style Oricorio. It's possible that Niantic will one day make the other Oricorio forms available in other regions in the world, but for now Pokemon GO players will have to physically travel to these locations to get the Pokemon.

While the event is live, Pokemon GO players will be able to find Oricorio more commonly in the wild. Not only that, but there will be a new Pokemon GO Collection Challenge to complete as well, with the reward giving players yet another encounter with Oricorio. Oricorio does not evolve, so Pokemon GO players won't need the candy to get another creature, but they can use their Oricorio candy to power up any that they manage to catch during the Festival of Colors event.

There's even more for Pokemon GO players to look forward to in March besides the Festival of Colors event and the debut of Oricorio. On March 22, Pokemon GO fans can check out the Akala Island Special Research, which will be available to start in the game from its introduction until June 1. The Akala Island Special Research comes hot off the heels of the Melemele Island Special Research, and they will be followed up by the Ula'ula and Poni Island Special Research quests. Anyone that manages to complete all four of these Special Research quests will then unlock the End-of-Season Special Research come May 25.

Pokemon GO is out now for iOS and Android mobile devices.
