The Pokemon GO Primal Rumblings Special Research is now live, giving fans of the popular mobile game the chance to complete a brand-new quest with its own tasks and rewards. Pokemon GO Special Research is always cause for celebration, as it gives dedicated players of the game more to do while they're out and about catching Pokemon, taking over gyms, and conquering raids.

The new Pokemon GO Primal Rumblings Special Research quest is partly to promote the overarching Primal Rumblings event that will be going live in the game from February 22 at 10:00am local time to February 24 at 10:00pm local time. The event will focus on Hoenn region Pokemon, giving players an increased chance to catch them in the wild. Legendary Pokemon Rayquaza will also be featured in raids at this time, with players able to get one that knows the Breaking Swipe attack.

When the proper Primal Rumblings event goes live, Pokemon GO players will have a much easier time completing all the new Special Research tasks. Split into two pages, the latest Pokemon GO Special Research quest tasks players with catching Pokemon of specific types, powering up their Pokemon, making great curveball throws, completing Field Research tasks, and catching Pokemon that originated from the Hoenn region. For their efforts, Pokemon GO players will be rewarded with berries, Poke Balls, Star Pieces, Stardust, and XP.

  • Catch 5 Water, Electric, or Bug-type Pokemon - 20 Pinap Berries
  • Catch 5 Fire, Grass, or Ground-type Pokemon - 20 Razz Berries
  • Catch 10 Pokemon originally discovered in the Hoenn region - 3 Golden Razz Berries

Step 1 Rewards: 2023 XP, 2023 Stardust

  • Complete 5 Field Research Tasks - 10 Poke Balls
  • Power up Pokemon 10 Times - 5 Great Balls
  • Make 5 great curveball throws - 1 Star Piece

Step 2 Rewards: 2023 XP, 2023 Stardust, GO Tour: Hoenn Ticket

Players that complete this Pokemon GO Special Research in time will get to participate in the GO Tour: Hoenn by choosing between Team Ruby or Team Sapphire. This will determine what rewards they get during the GO Tour: Hoenn event. The live event version of GO Tour: Hoenn is happening right now in Las Vegas, scheduled to take place between today and February 19.

Primal Rumblings is just the latest Pokemon GO event, and there will likely be many more throughout the year, so fans should have plenty to look forward to in the months ahead.
