Pokemon GO is bringing the Primal Forms of Kyogre and Groudon to the game as part of the festivities for the Pokemon GO Fest coming later this year. Primal Reversion was introduced to these Legendary Pokemon in the Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire games and will have a similar function to Mega Raids in Pokemon GO.

Niantic is ramping up its promotion for its annual Pokemon GO Tour event which already has its main attraction, the debut of shiny Jirachi, and a big in-person event in Las Vegas. As a further draw for Pokemon GO players, the primal forms of Groudon and Kyogre are coming to the game in the form of a new raid type. Because of this, a new Pokedex category will be added to show off a player's collection of Primal Form Pokemon, which could hint that more could be coming in the future.

Players will battle Primal Form Kyogre and Groudon after they hatch from Primal Raid eggs during Pokemon Go Tour: Hoenn - Las Vegas which takes place on February 18-19. Once the battle has been completed, trainers will receive primal energy and an encounter with these Legendary Pokemon that can go towards having their own Primal Reversion Legendaries. Lucky trainers may also have an opportunity at shiny Legendary Pokemon after the Primal Raids. Primal Reversion will last for 8 hours after Kyogre and Groudon are evolved and will cost less Primal Energy every time players want to use their primal forms in the future.

When Kyogre and Groudon revert to their primal forms, trainers will receive additional bonuses. Trainers that use Primal Kyogre in raid parties and as a buddy Pokemon will see Water, Electric, and Bug-type attacks boosted during raids, and catching the aforementioned Pokemon Types will grant additional catch XP and stardust. Primal Groudon will have the same effects and bonuses on Fire, Grass, and Ground-type attacks and Pokemon. Usually, Mega Evolved Pokemon only boost one or two types of Pokemon, but with Primal Reversions, 4 Pokemon types will get stat boosts for the duration on these Legendary Pokemon existing in their Primal forms.

Primal Form Kyogre and Groudon will also learn specific moves while in Primal form. Primal Kyogre will learn the Water-type move Origin Pulse and Primal Groudon will learn the Ground-type move Precipice Blade. There is a catch with this announcement as only ticket holders to this Pokemon GO event will get Primal Raid encounters and associated bonuses, Field Research tasks, etc. for the weekend of February 18-19. All bonuses will come to all players as part of Pokemon GO Tour: Hoenn - Global the following weekend, February 25-26.
