Pokemon GO players are voicing their frustration with Niantic and the popular monster-catching mobile game, complaining about the over-saturation of Pikachu within the game. The beloved mobile game features a wide variety of creatures from throughout the history of the long-running Pokemon franchise. Niantic regularly adds new Pokemon to the game for players to acquire both through limited-time events and permanent additions, as well as shiny variants of Pokemon GO's creatures. However, fans are growing particularly tired of the abundance of a certain kind of Pokemon.

As the franchise's primary mascot since its inception, there are no shortage of opportunities for players to acquire different versions of Pikachu in Pokemon GO. Alongside the normal version of the electric mouse Pokemon, Niantic regularly adds new variants of the Pokemon for its holiday events. Through its various promotions, Pokemon GO has offered more than sixty different versions of Pikachu, often donning new hats or different costumes. Pokemon GO Fans are Sick of Pikachu

In a post by Reddit user TheLastStoryTold, Pokemon GO fans are expressing their fatigue with the over-abundance of Pikachu variants. Many fans expressed their own lack of enthusiasm for the Pokemon, with special variant Pikachus unable to evolve into Raichu like its normal version. Some fans also shared in the original poster's beleaguered nature with the Pokemon, avoiding catching new versions of the Pokemon which can quickly fill up their in-game storage. Others offered alternative ideas for new variant Pokemon, including new outfits for other Pokemon or Mimikyu wearing all the Pikachu hats.

Complaints surrounding the excessive number of alternate Pikachus in Pokemon GO follow the recent addition of another new Pikachu variant to the game. Collaborating with the Pokemon Horizons anime, Niantic added a new Pikachu wearing Cap's Hat from the newest Pokemon anime series. The anime crossover brought new features to the photo mode as well, with players being photo-bombed by Pokemon Horizons protagonists Liko and Roy when snapping pictures of their Pokemon. Much like several other variants, Captain's Cap Pikachu also cannot evolve into Raichu within Pokemon GO.

Pokemon GO's most recent Pikachu variant was joined by multiple new Pokemon being added to the game from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. The Pokemon Horizons event introduced Charcadet as the newest Pokemon, also debuting its pair of evolutions in Ceruledge and Armarouge. The game's newest season also welcomed a new event centered around Sun and Moon's Ultra Beasts, introducing the remaining Mythical Pokemon from Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. Though fans may complain, Pokemon GO's new events will likely continue to introduce new variants of Pokemon's most iconic creature.
