Update: The issue has now been resolved, and users should be able to login without problems.

Original story follows:

In the early days of Pokemon GO server outages and login problems were pretty much a daily occurrence. Things have gotten much better on that front now that the game has worked through most of its growing pains, but, like all online games, it still has its problems. Today, that problem is keeping Pokemon Trainer Club players from logging in and starting the egg hatching event.

Pokemon GO player have two options when they create an account, they can go the easier route and use an existing Google account or they can link their Pokemon GO account to the Pokemon Trainer Club (PTC). There isn't a very big different between the two options, except that when one of the two services crashes. In this case, Google logins still work, while PTC players are locked out of the game.

The most recent PTC login problems started just a few hours ago and are still keeping both Android and iOS PTC logins from working. Niantic is aware of the issue, but, unfortunately, players are stuck in a bit of a waiting game.

Usually these issues are resolved in just a few hours, but it is particularly bad timing considering that many players want to be out hatching eggs this week. Things could definitely be worse and players should be happy that this issue didn't pop up during one of the three hour Community Day events.

We'll keep an eye on the status and post updates as Niantic offers more information or confirms a fix. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!

Pokemon GO is available now in select regions on Android and iOS devices.
