  • A Pokemon GO player collected all of the Vivillon patterns in the game after months of dedication and patience.
  • Different regions offer unique Vivillon patterns, making it a challenge to collect them all.
  • Obtaining Vivillon patterns adds an extra layer of engagement and encourages players to explore new places and interact with others.

A dedicated Pokemon GO player has gotten all the Vivillon patterns. Pokemon GO has more than 800 monsters, with some standing out for being especially difficult to catch.

One of these Pokemon is Vivillon, a Bug/Flying-type introduced in Gen 6 that looks like a butterfly. Vivillon is the evolution of Spewpa and the final form of Scatterbug, and Gen 6 players could get its 20 different wing patterns based on their geographical location. The same happens in Pokemon GO, as Vivillon has different patterns influenced by the geography that players obtain by collecting postcards. Getting Scatterbug and evolving into all the Vivillon variants takes time and patience, but one dedicated Pokemon GO player showed the community their collection of the adorable Gen 6 Pokemon.

Pokemon GO Player Discovers Huge Trick to Get Critical Catches

A Pokemon GO player discovers how to get critical catches, and the community is stunned by this potential meta-defining trick.

Reddit user phenomenalmoisture managed to get all 18 Vivillon patterns available in Pokemon GO. The player says that it took them six to seven months to obtain all the patterns and that it took them another five to six months to grind Vivillon Candy, an item needed to evolve both Scatterbug and Spewpa. They say that Ocean and Monsoon are their favorite patterns and that Sandstorm and Tundra were the hardest to get. Sandstorm Vivillon is found in Middle Eastern countries, and is distinguished by its shades of brown. Tundra Vivillon appears in Iceland, Southern Norway, Sweden, and Northern Japan, and has shades of blue with white polka dots.

Last year, Niantic added the Vivillon evolution line to Pokemon GO and linked it to the postcards feature. When visiting a PokeStop, or receiving gifts from friends, the Pokemon GO player obtains a postcard. When the trainer pins three cards from the same region, it will trigger an encounter with its respective Scatterbug. This is a process that requires time and patience, not only to get enough cards from all 18 regions, but also to collect enough candy to evolve the Pokemon into Vivillon. Certain patterns become more difficult for players to obtain depending on the region, as is the case in Middle Eastern countries that have banned or limited the use of Pokemon GO.
