  • Player shares tips for grinding, inspiring others to pursue challenging medals.

A dedicated Pokemon GO player has surprised the community by achieving a platinum medal after two years of grind. The main experience of Pokemon GO is catching Pokemon and battling, but other aspects of the game add an extra layer of engagement to the gameplay.

One of these aspects is Pokemon GO's medals, which consist of in-game achievements that players obtain by reaching certain milestones. These milestones include capturing a certain type of Pokemon, walking distances, visiting PokeStops, and capturing Pokemon. Pokemon GO's medals are divided into four tiers; bronze, silver, gold, and platinum, and to get the better tier medals, the requirements increase. While some Pokemon GO medals are easier to earn, others require time and dedication. A Pokemon GO player recently demonstrated both by showing off their new medal, which trainers find very hard to obtain.

Pokemon GO Player Pulls Off Impressive Hatching Feat

A Pokemon GO player is incredibly lucky and reveals to the game's community how they got a special variant of a coveted Pokemon.

Reddit user AbuFofana got one of Pokemon GO's platinum medals by having 200 Best Buddies. In the comments, the player shared how the process was to get the "Best Buddy" medal, explaining that on average it takes 50 days to get one Best Buddy. They did 20 at a time, and in six months they got around 70 Best Buddies, which "motivated them to keep going." According to the player, this process took about an hour a day, while they "listened to a podcast or watched a YouTube video in the background."

Pokemon GO Player Impresses by Getting 200 Best Buddy Pokemon

In the comments, Pokemon GO players congratulated the OP, showing how impressed they were with their achievement. For the Pokemon GO player, having a Best Buddy Pokemon is a process that requires patience to get the necessary Affection Hearts. To make the grind more bearable, the player has shared a trick with other Pokemon GO trainers, which is to start a trainer battle against Candela, Blanche, or Spark with the buddy Pokemon in the party after feeding it. As soon as the battle begins, the Pokemon GO player can go back and get a heart, earning three hearts if they do it three times in a row.

The OP's feat is impressive because of the patience that several Pokemon GO players in the comments said they don't have, choosing instead to give up on getting the Best Buddy medal. Curiously, although this is a difficult medal to get, it's not an isolated case. There are Pokemon GO medals considered nearly impossible to obtain and others that are extremely tricky for trainers to add to their records.
