Pokemon GO users are eagerly awaiting the official launch of the big update that will revise the Gym system and introduce Battle Raids, but dataminers are already busy pulling details out of the early code. We know most of the high level ideas behind the big update, but there are still lots of details and secrets to figure out. The latest big datamine pulled some image assets and code that start to answer a few questions though...

Part of the recent Pokemon GO datamine, courtesy of Pokemon GO Hub, digs into some of the new badges coming to the mobile AR game. The four new types of badges seem to correlate to the following accomplishments:

  • Feeding a Gym defender a Berry
  • Defend a Gym (in hours)
  • Defeat a Raid Boss
  • Defeat a Legendary Raid Boss

The most exciting item on that list is definitely going to be 'defeat a legendary raid boss' for most Pokemon fans. This seems to confirm other reports that Legendary Pokemon will be a part of Raids and also explains Niantic's previous hint that this will be a 'Legendary Summer.'

Here's a look at the data and the badges from Pokemon GO Hub...

Obviously, none of this information has been confirmed by Niantic at this point, but the dataminers at GO Hub have been correct about these things in the past. We don't know an exact release date for the new content yet, but we look forward to confirming these rumors once everything has been made official and we can test it out for ourselves. If you plan to play along and complete some Battle Raids, be sure to check out our Pokemon GO guides.

What do you think of the new badges? Do you plan to collect them all? Let us know in the comments.

Pokemon GO is available now on Android and iOS devices in select regions.
