The Pokemon GO PvE meta game is full of powerful Legendary Pokemon at this point, but sometimes it's a big help to take the next step and bring a Mega evolved Pokemon into a battle. In order to do that, trainers need to stock up on Mega Energy in the mobile AR game by successfully completing Mega Raids and other challenges.

The fastest way to stock up Mega Energy in Pokemon GO is often completing Mega Battle Raids. Trainers who want to have a Mega Houndoom on reserve as a powerful Dark-/Fire-type will need to take some time to review its weaknesses and the best counters before heading into that challenging Raid.

Mega Houndoom is a Dark-/Fire-type Pokemon, which makes it a pretty interesting match up with a variety of popular counter roster options. Players should focus on countering the boss by assembling a roster of Rock-, Fighting-, Water-, and Ground-type Pokemon. It’s going to be strong against a lot of the other types, so try to stick just to those counters for the full roster lineup if possible.

Because this is a Mega Raid, players won't actually have a chance to catch the Pokemon they battled at the end. Instead, they'll catch the regular version of Houndoom and earn some Mega Energy that they can use in the future to temporarily trigger a Mega Evolution of their own.

Mega Energy is a valuable resource for future Battle Raid counters or just for trainers who are trying to earn a complete Mega Pokedex in the mobile AR game. Players should stock up on as much of the Mega Energy as they can while Mega Houndoom is available and in the mobile AR game's Battle Raid rotation.
