Pokemon GO has multiple in-game elements to hook players tight into the gameplay. From remote raid opportunities to in-person events, the game has something for everyone to enjoy. Despite the constant bugs and issues players face, the game still features multiple in-game events. One of these events is Mega Raids, and Mega Altaria has returned to the platform as a raid boss.

Mega Altaria is a dual Dragon and Fairy-type monster with powerful Pokemon GO stats. Originating from the Hoenn Region (Gen 3), the Mega Monster is known to have both attacking and defensive capabilities. There is also an opportunity to encounter a Shiny Mega Altaria during the Mega Raid. Mega Raids are rare, demanding powerful counters and strategy to win, and here is all the info about the current raid.

Pokemon GO: Mega Altaria Raid Hours, Weaknesses, and Resistances

Pokemon GO Mega Altaria All Weaknesses and Resistances

The Mega Altaria raid begins on May 25, 10:00 AM Local Time, and ends on June 1, 10:00 AM Local Time. Players can try and defeat the dual-type Mega Altaria within the time span of the Pokemon GO Mega Raid. However, it is almost impossible for a solo trainer to conquer the Mega Raid, so multiple players need to band together with proper meta-knowledge to clear it.

Mega Altaria’s typing makes it vulnerable against several move types in Pokemon GO. The Mega Monster shows weakness when facing Fairy, Ice, Poison, and Steel-type attacks. Using these moves will result in extra damage to the Mega Raid boss.

While the Mega Pokemon is only weak to 4 types of attacks, it can resist almost double the number of moves. Mega Altaria’s dual-typing weakens it to Bug, Dark, Water, Electric, Fighting, Fire, Grass, and Dragon-type attacks in Pokemon GO. Trainers should make sure to avoid these moves while fighting the Mega Raid boss.

To conquer the Mega Raid, Pokemon GO trainers should also consider the Same Type of Attack Bonus (STAB) effect. The STAB effect comes to play when a Pokemon’s attribute and attack types are identical. Pro players often use the STAB features to inflict extra damage.

Pokemon GO players should also use the Weather Boost effect while participating in the Mega Raid. Weather condition plays a vital role in a monster’s performance. Mega Altari’s power is increased by Windy and Cloudy weather, so participants need to skip raid locations with such weather environments.

One thing to note is that Shiny Mega Altaria is available to encounter during the Mega Raid hours. But since Shiny Mega Altaria is an exclusive catch, it isn’t open to encounter in the wild. Players can only encounter the Shiny Pokemon after conquering the Mega Raid. But even after defeating the boss, there is no saying if participants will face a Shiny variant or any other monster. Catching up to its shiny rate requires maximum raid participation; players must stock up on raid passes and Pokeballs to ensure a Shiny encounter.
