In Pokemon GO, events rotate quite frequently with the progression of new seasons, the introduction of new Pokemon, or to celebrate special moments. These events often bring many different things for Trainers to enjoy, such as shiny hunting opportunities, special bonuses, Raids, Field Research, and more.

Spotlight Hour events are one of the most common recurring events in Pokemon GO, with several of them taking place per month. On May 28, 2024, Mareanie will be featured as the Spotlight Hour event Pokemon, between the hour of 6 PM - 7 PM, local time. If Trainers are looking to get the most out of these short events, then taking the time to familiarize yourself with the event information in advance can enable you to prepare ahead of time and give yourself a head start.

Mareanie Spotlight Hour: Bonuses & Shiny Rates, Explained

mareanie pokemon go

The Mareanie Spotlight Hour event will run between 6 PM and 7 PM on May 28, 2024. During this time, the amount of Mareanie that Trainers will encounter in the wild will significantly increase, offering a greater opportunity to pick up this Pokemon for your Pokedex, collection, PvP, or PvE battling purposes. Some Trainers may even beat the odds and encounter a lucky shiny variant following the debut of both Mareanie and its evolved form, Toxapex, as obtainable specimens in Pokemon GO just a few days prior.

In addition to these increased spawn rates for Mareanie, the Mareanie Spotlight Hour event will offer in-game bonuses that consist of 2x Catch XP. This means that any and every Pokemon that you capture during the one-hour Spotlight Hour window will provide twice the amount of XP that you would normally receive. For this reason, you may wish to stock up on as many Pokeballs as you can before the event, as this will enable you to capture as many Pokemon as possible.

Finally, some Trainers may choose to use the Mareanie Spotlight Hour event as an opportunity to obtain shiny variants of Mareanie or Toxapex. Even though Spotlight Hour events don't boost the base shiny rate for featured Pokemon, the more frequent spawn rates give more opportunities for players to meet these lucky odds. To further increase the frequency of Mareanie spawns, players can also attempt to attract more Pokemon through the use of Incense or Lures, so if you have any of these items sitting around, this may be a decent opportunity to use them.

As determined by The Silph Road during their partnership with Pokemon GO developer, Niantic, the average shiny rate for standard wild Pokemon encounters was confirmed to be around 1 in 500 . This was investigated through the collection and evaluation of player data.
