March 2022 is just a day away and Pokemon GO players finally are getting the details they have been waiting for about the coming months. March 1 marks the start of a brand new in-game season, which means fresh bonuses, spawns, and field research for players to explore and enjoy. The full event calendar for the first month of the Season of Alola is also now published, which means that players also get a look at the coming month's spotlight Pokemon for Community Day.

As promised in the recent developer roadmap blog update, this month's Community Day is going to make things a little more exciting than usual. As Pokemon GO fans may have been able to predict after the theme for this month's season was announced, the Community Day is going to have a special Alolan spin to it. There will be two different Pokemon in the spotlight throughout Community Day March 2022 - both Sandshrew and Alolan Sandshrew.

There have been Community Day events that featured multiple Pokemon in the past, usually around the December holidays, but this feels a little different. Meta gamers are also already predicting that this Community Day could have a strong impact on the PvP meta game thanks to some very powerful exclusive moves that are going to be available during the event. That means that players will definitely want to take the time to get involved when March 13 rolls around and collect enough Candy to lock in a few high IV evolutions while the exclusive moves are up for grabs.

Trainers, We’re excited to announce that Sandshrew and Alolan Sandshrew, the Mouse Pokemon, will be featured during March’s Community Day! Sandshrew and Alolan Sandshrew will be appearing more frequently in the wild.

During the upcoming Community Day event itself, players will also be able to enjoy the 1/4 Egg distance bonus. This isn't quite as popular as the Stardust bonus, but for some players it is still an exciting opportunity. Niantic has definitely made it clear that it hopes to return to exercise and exploration in early 2022, so it makes sense that the first Community Day of the new season puts an emphasis on walking around and hatching as many Eggs as possible throughout the day. Players will know more about the latest rotation to Pokemon available in Eggs as more Season of Alola information becomes available.

In the week ahead, we should learn more about what other events will be arriving during the first days and weeks of the Season of Alola. Be sure to check back in the near future for more Pokemon GO strategy guides, news, and updates. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
