The latest season of Pokemon GO is in full swing, and it promises to be particularly significant. While much of Season of Heritage was based on familiar Pokemon, the current Season of Alola promises to bring a ton of new content to the game. Pokemon GO fans have only been able to capture Alolan variants of familiar Pokemon until now, but the current season brings the Alola region's starter Pokemon to the game, as well as a number of other faces. The recent Festival of Colors event added Oricorio, and now fans have another event to look forward to.

During the final days of March, Pokemon GO fans can participate in the Lush Jungle event. Much like how the Festival of Colors focused on Oricorio, the Lush Jungle event is designed to introduce a handful of other Alolan Pokemon, including a Legendary Pokemon. As is often the case with Pokemon GO events, the festivities aren't solely focused on a new Legendary Pokemon. Fans can expect a modified list of Pokemon to appear in both the wild and raids for the duration of the event, and those who like Grass and Bug-types should be prepared to participate.

The Lush Jungle Event's Pokemon Encounters

The Lush Jungle event is largely focused on the introduction of a couple Alolan Grass-type Pokemon, namely Fomantis and Lurantis. During the event, Pokemon GO fans will see Fomantis in the wild more often, as well as Metapod, Paras, Exeggcute, Ferroseed, Hoothoot, and Sudowoodo, with a rare chance of Pinsir and Cottonee encounters. Notably, the Lush Jungle event will add Shiny Cottonee, so Pokemon GO fans ought to keep an eye out for this Unovan Pokemon while looking for Fomantis.

Raids will also differ during the event. One-Star Raids will feature Sewaddle, Tangela, Bellsprout, and Cottonee, while Three-Star Raids will focus on Butterfree, Vileplume, Parasect, and Exeggutor. Pokemon GO players will be able to catch Tapu Lele for the first time; this Psychic/Fairy Legendary Pokemon can be found in Five-Star Raids for the duration of the event. Mega Raids, in the meantime, will feature the more classic Pokemon Mega Charizard Y. Altogether, the Lush Jungle event's theme rings loud and clear with the help of its raid list.

Players completing Pokemon GO Research will notice special tasks and rewards as usual. The event will offer players Timed Research based on exploration and Grass-types, and in exchange for completing Field Research, players can expect encounters with Caterpie, Exeggcute, Ferroseed, Sunkern, Wurmple, Seedot, Cottonee, and Fomantis. There's a chance for Paras and Parasect encounters too. Pokemon GO fans should also note that the Lush Jungle event kicks off a new line of Special Research themed around Akala Island, much like recent Special Research quests themed around Melemele Island.

On March 26 and 27, Cottonee will appear more frequently in parks, so Shiny Pokemon collectors should try to search over that weekend. Aside from that spotlight, the rest of the Lush Jungle event lasts from March 22 at 10:00 a.m. to March 29 at 8:00 p.m. local time. A week ought to give Pokemon GO fans plenty of time to gather the handful of new Pokemon introduced. Alolan Pokemon are trickling into Pokemon GO, but with so much more of the Season of Alola left to go, there's likely plenty of other events to look forward to.

Pokemon GO is available now for Android and iOS devices.
