Attention, trainers! Mark your calendars, because it's time for another exciting Pokemon GO Community Day Classic event. This month, the mobile AR game is celebrating the classic fan-favorite Larvitar and its powerful evolutions. The Season of Mythical Wishes continues in January and although players learned the January Community Day dates a few weeks ago, it's only now that Niantic is ready to confirm which Pokemon will be in the Classic spotlight when January 20.

On January 20th, from 11 AM to 5 PM local time, you'll have the opportunity to catch tons of Larvitar in the wild. Plus, if you're lucky, you may even encounter a Shiny Larvitar. As always, players will be able to use the opportunity to grind Larvitar Candy, shiny encounters, and enjoy other bonuses that will be active throughout the day. Pokemon GO Community Days and Community Day Classics are some of the most popular events in the game and usually draw a big crowd.

January 2023's event is going to offer 3x XP, which is a pretty decent incentive for trainers trying to reach those increased max level limits. During the event, if you evolve a Pupitar into a Tyranitar, it will learn the exclusive Fast Attack move "Smack Down." This powerful attack will only be available during Community Day hours, so make sure to get your Tyranitar evolved before time runs out!

Pokemon Larvitar

Trainers,

Community Day Classic returns in January! This event will feature the Rock Skin Pokémon, Larvitar!

Event Bonuses

  • 3× XP for catching Pokémon.
  • Lure Modules activated during the event will last for three hours.
  • Incense (excluding Daily Adventure Incense) activated during the event will last for three hours.
  • Take a few snapshots during Community Day for a surprise!

As always, there will be special bonuses available during the event as well. Lure modules will last for three hours, and eggs will hatch at a quarter of their normal distance. The Season of Mythical Wishes has some pretty decent hatches in rotation, so it should be worth bundling up and exploring town for a few hours if the weather cooperates. In the week ahead, we should learn more about what other events and activities will be arriving during the first months of 2023 and the second month of the game's latest season.

Be sure to check back in the near future for more Pokemon GO strategy guides, news, and updates. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
