Even though over 25 years have passed since the release of Pokemon Red and Blue, Pokemon has mostly remained the same at its core. Players must explore the region, catch as many Pokemon as possible (especially the legendaries), and battle other trainers until they reach the top. But, as technology has advanced, so has the Pokemon franchise, and nowadays, gamers can catch their favorite on their mobile devices.
Pokemon GO has become one of the most popular mobile games for mobile devices since it transforms a player's environment into a Pokemon-filled world. Along with catching and leveling a Pokemon, players must also complete Special Researches that award them with unique rewards. However, completing some of them, like the Investigate A Mysterious Energy special research, can sometimes be tricky without the proper guidance.
Investigate a Mysterious Energy - Part 1
- Catch 30 Pokemon
- Spin 30 Pokestops or Gyms
- Send 10 Gifts to Friends
The first part of the Special Research quest from Pokemon GO isn't too tricky since players will be able to complete it simply by playing the game normally. First, players must focus on catching 30 Pokemon, which can easily be done using Incense since it lures Pokemon to a player's location for a short period.
As for the 30 Pokestops or Gym spins, players can spin the same ones as it counts toward the 30. And finally, players must send 10 Gifts to Friends, which shouldn't be an issue as long as the player has a full Friend list. Once completed, players will receive x30 Great Balls, x1000 Stardust, and a Ralts encounter (with a slight chance of it being shiny).
Investigate a Mysterious Energy - Part 2
- Catch 30 Psychic-type Pokemon
- Catch 30 Fire-type Pokemon
- Hatch 3 Eggs
The next step to complete the Investigate a Mysterious Energy special research players must take is to catch 30 Psychic and Fire-type Pokemon. Unfortunately, there's no way of forcing the game to spawn these specific types of Pokemon other than waiting for a special event or community day that features a Psychic/Fire-type Pokemon.
The good news is that players can complete the third objective without praying that RNG blesses them since it involves hatching three eggs. The fastest route players can take to complete this objective is to equip 2km eggs. Once completed, players will receive 1000 XP, x30 Great Balls, and a Torchic encounter (with a slight chance of it being shiny).
Investigate a Mysterious Energy - Part 3
- Take a Snapshot of Your Buddy
- Earn 3 Candies Walking with Your Buddy
- Power up Pokemon 3x
The third part of this special research quest revolves mainly around a player's Pokemon buddy. Players must take a snapshot of their buddy, which may seem easy but can be challenging if the player is in an area that doesn't have a flat surface. Fortunately, players can turn off the AR feature, making it 10x easier to take the snapshot.
Players must also earn three candies while walking with their buddies (how far a player has to walk to earn a candy depends on the Pokemon). Finally, players will need to power up Pokemon 3x, which can be done easily by powering low CP Pokemon. Once completed, players will receive x3 Revives, x1000 Stardust, and an Espeon encounter (with a slight chance of it being shiny).
Investigate a Mysterious Energy - Part 4
- Win 3 Gym Battles
- Defeat 3 Team GO Rocket Grunts
- Win 3 Raids
The objectives will get a little more challenging since players will have to start battling Team Rocket Grunts and rival Gyms. For the first objective, players will need to win three Gym battles, so players should battle Gyms that have low CP Pokemon.
Afterward, players must defeat 3 Team Rocket Grunts, which spawn every hour. The final objective may be the toughest for some Pokemon GO fans since they'll need to win 3 Raids. Players should look for 1-Star Raids as they're the easiest to win solo, but if they have many active friends, they can try a 4 or 5-Star Raid. Once completed, players will receive x3 Max Potions, x3 Max Revives, and a Victini encounter.
Investigate a Mysterious Energy - Part 5
- Take a Snapshot of Victini
- Catch 30 Different Species of Pokemon
- Send 3 Gifts to Friends
The fifth objective to complete in the Investigate a Mysterious Energy special research will have players take a snapshot of their newly acquired legendary Pokemon, Victini. Players will then need to catch 30 different Pokemon, which may take more than a day unless the player has Lures to use on Pokestops.
The final step is to send three Gifts to friends, which should be easy as the player has already done this in a previous objective. Once completed, players will receive the following rewards: x5 Victini Stickers, x3000 Stardust, and x1 Star Piece.
Investigate a Mysterious Energy - Part 6
- Automatically Completed
Players will not have to do anything to complete the final part of the special research quest as all the objectives are automatically achieved (which nets them 6000 EXP and x3000 Stardust). The final rewards the player will receive for completing all six objectives are x1 Lure Module, x20 Victini Candies, and x1 Lucky egg.
