Pokemon GO players have been balancing limited inventories since the game launched. This wasn't such a big problem when there were only Gen 1 creatures to catch and store, but multiple generations have been added to the mobile AR experience since those early days and some Pokemon GO players have been desperate for the opportunity to purchase addition Pokemon storage and item inventory spaces.
Luckily, Niantic is finally ready to deliver on this request and offer players willing to cough up enough coins some new storage limits. This is great news for players who are trying to catch all the best Unova region Pokemon and save multiple copies for different move sets or later evolutions.
Pokemon GO'snew storage limit for Pokemon is going to be 3,000 and the new limit for item storage is going to be 2,500. Note that players do need to purchase many upgrades to actually reach those max limits. This change doesn't mean that players can store 3,000 Pokemon automatically or anything like that. Trainers will still need to spend the required amount of coins to unlock each upgrade tier.
Players who want to start working towards the new max capacity can spend 200 coins to upgrade either Pokemon storage or item storage by 50 slots. This gives the hardcore scene a lot more room to work with has they attempt to build up multiple different rosters to be prepared for all of the different PvE and PvP metagame challenges in Pokemon GO.
Hopefully these capacity increases will continue to arrive as additional generations are added to the game in the future. Making increases once a year or so seems to be enough to keep the community happy, so Niantic is likely to stick to this formula until the full global dex is available.
