The Pokemon in Pokemon GO do not gain experience or level up as their mainline counterparts. Instead, players can Power Up their Pokemon using Stardust and Candy. Pokemon evolution in GO also requires Candy in order to work. Any Pokemon that can evolve in mainline Pokemon can evolve in GO. However, some species are gender exclusive.

Salandit is a Poison/Fire-type Pokemon that debuted in the eighth generation. It can evolve by leveling up just like most Pokemon, but there's a catch. Salandit are difficult to come by in Pokemon GO, and getting a Salazzle can be even more time-consuming.

Where to Find Salandit

Salandit can be hatched from Strange Eggs, which are obtained from defeating a Team GO Rocket Leader or Giovanni. Pokemon GO trainers can hold up to 3 Strange Eggs in the Bonus Storage. These Eggs require 12km to hatch.

Salandit's hatch rate is 2/5 Eggs, making it common, but not as common as Pokemon like Salandit, Pawniard, Vullaby, and Pancham. Eggs will only hatch if they're placed in an Egg Incubator or a Super Incubator. Incubators will break after 3 uses, but players will receive one permanent Egg Incubator.

How to Find Team GO Rocket Leaders

In order to fight a Team GO Rocket Leader, players will need x6 Mysterious Components to make a Rocket Radar. The next Team GO Rocket Encounter will be Arlo, Cliff, or Sierra. Their Pokemon team are full of tough Shadow Pokemon, and they'll use Protect Shields against the player's first two Charge Moves.

Players will need a Super Rocket Radar to encounter Giovanni. These are only given out during Team GO Rocket Special Research quests. Giovanni will always have one Legendary Pokemon on his team that players can snag if they manage to beat him.

How to Get More Egg Incubtors

Egg Incubators can be given as reward for certain Special Research tasks or reaching certain Trainer Levels. Players will get Incubators at the following levels:

  • Level 6
  • Level 10
  • Level 15
  • Level 20
  • Level 25
  • Level 30
  • Level 35
  • Level 40-50

Another way to obtain Incubators is by purchasing them from the in-game shop for 150 Coins (x1 Egg Incubator) or 200 Coins (x1 Super Incubator). Under the Limited Time Only!, there may be a gift box that contains Egg Incubators in bulk. Voyager Box (1750 Coins) has x40 Ultraballs, x8 Super Incubators, and x10 Egg Incubators.

Placing a Strange Egg (12km) in a Super Incubator will halve the hatch distance. There are also in-game events that may shorten the hatch distance, so players will want to keep an eye out for those. Event can be checked by tapping the Binoculars icon, then selecting the Today tab. Scroll past the Timed Research to view a list of daily and/or monthly events.

How to Evolve Salandit into Salazzle

pokemon go salandit pokedex entry

Salandit will evolve into Salazzle when it's given 50 Salandit Candy, but only if the Salandit is female. Unfortunately, the male:female gender ratio for Salandit is 7:1, making a female Salandit almost as rare as getting a female Starter Pokemon (ex., Bulbasaur). This means it may take more than a few Strange Eggs until players can get a female Salandit.

Players can check the gender of Salandit by the symbol next to its name. Furthermore, a male Salandit will not have a button that allows it to Evolve.

How to Get Salandit Candies Fast

pokemon go strange eggs

Until Salandit can be caught in the wild, the best way to farm Salandit Candies fast is to keep hatching Strange Eggs. Team GO Rocket Grunts appear just about anywhere, so players can get a Rocket Radar fairly quickly.

Hatching a Salandit from a Strange Egg will give anywhere from 16-32 Candy. There are also daily events that will increase the Hatch Candy, too. Trying to hatch an Egg during this timeframe is a good way to farm Candy from Pokemon that are Egg-exclusive.

Players will also get 1 Salandit Candy for every 3km if they set Salandit as their Buddy Pokemon. Giving Salandit a Poffin will shorten the Distance Required for Candy. However, Poffins are rare and last 6 hours, so it may be best to feed it to Salandit when Pokemon GO trainers have free time.

Finally, since the male Salandit can't evolve, players can Transfer it to the professor. Each time a Pokemon is Transferred, it'll give 1 Candy. Sometimes, Transferring a Pokemon will double the Candy if there's an ongoing event or during holidays.
