The sustained popularity of Pokemon GO is partly due to Niantic's effort to continue adding new content to the hit mobile title. As the Pokemon franchise continues to expand its Pokedex with new monsters to catch, Pokemon GO continues to follow suit an expand its available roster of creatures as well. While the mobile title may not have every single Pokemon added quite yet, new additions seem to be coming at a much more rapid pace like the recent inclusions of Sandygast and Palossand.

With Pokemon GO celebrating its 7th Anniversary this month, Niantic is giving players 7 days of in-game bonuses and Pokemon to catch. Each day from July 6-12, three new starter Pokemon spawned more frequently and Pokemon GO raids had a higher chance of spawning Gen 1 Pokemon like the legendary birds or mega raids against Blastoise.

The added focus on Gen1 Pokemon has also seemingly got fans interested in attempting to unlock the rare Platinum Kanto Medal in Pokemon GO, though four of the necessary creatures needed may cause a bit of a headache to acquire like Mr. Mine.

How to Get Mr. Mime in Pokemon GO (2023)

Currently, Mr. Mime is one of the four region-locked Pokemon which include Kangaskhan, Tauros, and Farfetch'd. At the time of writing, Kangaskhan is unique to Australia, Tauros to North America, and Farfetch'd in eastern Asia. So for those who need to fill out their Pokedex with Mr. Mime, they'll need to travel to Europe, which isn't exactly the easiest thing to do for most people.

On rare occasion, Mr. Mime has also been made available outside of Europe through various events, with the most recent one being back in February 2023 as a Research Breakthrough Reward. Mr. Mime has also been added to Raid Battles back in 2021, hatchable from eggs in September 2019, and part of the Safari Zone 2021 Field Research. Either way, Mr. Mime isn't a common event reward, so Pokemon GO players will likely be waiting a while to see it appear as a viable option.

For those who can't travel to Europe, the only other option outside of a special event is to make a trade with another player who has one to spare. One catch is that trading inside of Pokemon GO has to be done locally, so players will need to know someone who is nearby in order to start this process at all. Once that requirement has been satisfying, players can follow these steps to begin trading inside Pokemon GO:

  1. At the map screen, go to the profile screen.
  2. Under Friends, open the Friend List.
  3. Select the person to trade with and then press the Trade button.
  4. Keep in mind that Stardust is needed in order to make a trade and if the game deems it to be special, players will likely need to spend an even greater amount. A trade is considered special if it includes a Pokemon or Pokemon Form that's not already in the players' Pokedex, a Legendary Pokemon, a Shiny Pokemon, or an Ultra Beast.
