Arlo may have the same roster of characters for November 2021 as he had last month in Pokemon GO, but that doesn’t mean battling him is any easier. Players still need to bring effective type-advantages and the best counters to defeat the Team Rocket Leader.

To start the challenge against Arlo in Pokemon GO, trainers must first collect 6 Mysterious Components by defeating Rocket Grunts at select PokeStops. He can then appear in floating Rocket Balloons, or at PokeStops.

Defeating Arlo leads to an encounter with a shadow Pokemon that can be purified in Pokemon GO, 1000 Stardust, and a random selection of 2 of the following rewards:

Arlo's First Pokemon - Venonat

Venonat is always the first Pokemon Arlo will pick in Pokemon GO. It is both a Bug and Poison-type, meaning it is weak against Flying, Rock, Psychic, and strong Fire-Type moves in Pokemon. Venonat resists Poison, Bug, Fairy, Fighting, and Grass-type moves.

It's best to pick a Pokemon who will also be effective in the second and third Arlo battles, so here are some great Pokemon and counters to defeat Venonat quickly and easily with that in mind.

Arlo's Second Pokemon - Crobat, Ursaring, or Manectric

Arlo's second and third Pokemon are randomly selected, and there is no way to tell which one he will pick before the battle begins. This is why it's important to try and pick characters that are effective against multiple options.

Crobat is a dual Poison and Flying-type Pokemon that's weak to Rock, Electric, Psychic, and Ice-type moves. It resists damage from Ground, Poison, Fairy, Fighting, Bug, and Grass-type moves. Ursaring is a Normal-type, making it weak to Fighting-type moves only. It has a resistance to Ghost-type moves. Manectric is an Electric-type Pokemon so it is only weak to Ground-type moves. It is resistant to Flying, Steel, and Electric-type moves. Vileplume is a dual Grass and Poison-type Pokemon. It is weak to Flying, Fire, Psychic, and Ice-type moves. It resists Fighting, Water, Electric, Fairy, and Grass-type moves.
