As part of Pokemon GO's Timeless Travels season, there are a variety of events introducing new Pokemon, temporary buffs, and event research for Trainers to complete. As part of the Raging Battles event, beginning on January 19, 2023, the Rage Monkey Pokemon, Annihilape, will be obtainable in the game for the first time.

Annihilape is a Fighting and Ghost Dual-Type Pokemon with some very sturdy stats and a brilliant move pool to build from. Because of these factors, Annihilape will very likely jump into PvP battles as one of the most viable new picks, making a strong addition to many different team competitions. However, to get Annihilape, Trainers will need to evolve it from Primape using special evolution criteria unique to Pokemon GO. Is it possible to get a shiny Annihilape as well?

Can Annihilape Be Shiny in Pokemon GO?

With the addition of Annihilape into Pokemon GO, many shiny hunters may be intrigued to find out if this is another potential addition to their collections. Luckily, for anyone looking to take on a shiny hunt for the Mankey-Primeape-Annihilape evolution line, all three of these Pokemon are available in the game in shiny variants and will have a chance of spawning as shiny during the Raging Battles event.

As confirmed by the official Pokemon GO website, during the Raging Battles event, Mankey will be available as a shiny encounter both through normal wild encounters, as well as the Field Research encounters, and Primeape will be obtainable as a shiny through Three-star Raids. By evolving shiny Mankey and then shiny Primeape, Trainers will also be able to obtain shiny Annihilape, which takes on a color palette with slightly more cool, blue tones in comparison to the usual grays.

As for shiny rates for both Mankey and Primeape, there is nothing stated in the Raging Battles event summary that indicates there will be any increased rates for stumbling across a shiny variant of either of these Pokemon. Instead, it can be presumed that the shiny rates will remain one in five hundred, which was determined through extensive user data collection and evaluation from The Silph Road, before the ending of their partnership with Pokemon GO developer, Niantic.

Annihilape in Pokemon GO & All Raging Battles Event Bonuses, Explained

Annihilape is one of the most recent additions to become obtainable in Pokemon Go, as a result of the Timeless Travels Season Raging Battles event, which takes place between January 19, 2024, at 10 AM and Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at 8 PM, local time. Alongside the introduction of this Generation 9 Fighting and Ghost Type, there will also be a variety of temporary event perks, encounters, and even shiny rates that Trainers can make the most of.

To obtain Annihilape, players will first need to have captured a Primeape. You will then need to equip Primeape to your Trainer as your Buddy, and then defeat 30 Psychic or Ghost Type Pokemon in battle. These Pokemon do not need to be defeated by your Primeape, but you must ensure that Primeape maintains the role of your Buddy until all 30 Pokemon are defeated. Following this, the evolution should trigger automatically.

Other than the addition of Annihilape, Pokemon GO's Raging Battles event has a variety of different tasks to complete and buffs that players can take advantage of. Regardless of your location, the usually regional-based Throh and Sawk will make appearances in the wild for the duration of Raging Battles, and Team GO Rocket will appear more frequently at Balloons and Pokestops. Many wild Pokemon will be available as more frequent wild encounters, including Machop, Lickitung, Gligar, Sabyleye, Throh, Sawk, Scragy, and lastly, Mankey, which makes obtaining Primape, and later, Annihilape, much easier to achieve. One-star Raids will feature Snubbul, Houndour, Pancham, and Mareanie, while Three-star Raids will provide Gyarados, Zwelious, and Primeape encounters, again making Annihilape significantly easier to add to your collection.

Aside from these features, there will also be standard Stardust and EXP boosts, Collection Challenges, Paid Timed Research, and most importantly, Field Task Research which will provide encounters with Mankey. Keeping all of this information in mind, it seems the Raging Battles event will be the quickest and easiest way to obtain Mankey or Primeape, which will give players a head start when it comes to obtaining Annihilape via evolution. It's a good idea to make the most of this, as these Pokemon may be much more difficult to obtain following these dates.
