The Pokemon GO holiday event will be starting soon, and with it, players can get some unique holiday items. Not only will Pokemon GO have holiday avatars and Pokemon in holiday costumes, but there will be some ice-themed holiday raid Pokemon as well.

Right around Christmas every year, Pokemon celebrates with updates to many of its games, releases Pokemon-themed holiday collections of toys, and other celebrations to help bring in the holiday season. This year will be no different in Pokemon GO, as players can look forward to new bonuses, adorable Pokemon in holiday costumes, and some icy friends from holiday raids. This year's raid Pokemon will be all about the snow, ice, and iceburgs.

Starting December 22nd, 2020, Pokemon GO players will be able to find more ice Pokemon out in the wild, in eggs, and in raids. There will also be a brand new Pokemon added to the GO lineup called Vanillite, a snow Pokemon who has never been seen in GO before. Just like the holiday event from 2019 in Pokemon GO, players can expect special spawns, free premium items, and special icy pocket monsters appearing in raids. There will be several snowy friends to be found in raids and one in Mega Raids.

Ice themed Pokemon for GO's holiday event
  • Raid Pokemon will include Alolan Sandshrew, Dewgong, Jynx, Sneasel, Swinub, Walrein, Cubchoo, Cryogonal, Regice, and even possibly a Shiny Jynx.
  • Mega Raid Pokemon will include Mega Abomasnow, an abominable Snowman-looking Pokemon with some strong icy powers.

It's good to see the return of Regice; those who missed the iceberg Pokemon will have another chance to nab it during the event week. Pokemon GO players can also expect double raid XP between Tuesday, December 22, 2020, 12:00 a.m. to Wednesday, December 23, 2020, 11:59 p.m. local time.

Along with all of the updates from the Pokemon GO Beyond update, players can also look forward to free stuff, holiday avatars, and even icy-themed field research. The holiday event will also have times for double Catch Candy, double Star Piece durations, double Luck Egg durations, and double stardust. Players can also hold and open more gifts than usual during the event week.

Players can also earn Pokemon stickers with a holiday flair of Alolan Vulpix, Croagunk, and Whimsicott. Not to mention the most important holiday-themed update to the game: Pikachu, Delibird, and Cubchoo are all wearing cute holiday costumes too.

The event will start on December 22, 2020, at 8 AM and ends December 31st, 2020 at 10 PM local time.
