To finish off a month of great in-game events, Pokemon GO's Halloween Event 2023 features a variety of special content to celebrate the spooky season including critters with increased shiny odds, new Timed Research tasks, and even the addition of new Gen 9 critters originally introduced in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. While these rewards are sure to entice many players to check out the event, Pokemon GO is also introducing Phantump's shiny variant to the game for the first time during this event. There are a lot of mons with increased shiny odds during the Halloween Event 2023, but players may want to keep an eye out for shiny Phantump in particular.

In addition to the chance to find a shiny Phantump, players also have an increased chance to find other great shinies like Zubat, Alolan Meowth, Drifloon, and Litwick along with even more shinies like Gengar, Guzzlord, and Darkrai available in raids throughout the event. The Halloween Event 2023 for Pokemon GO is also introducing the Gen 9 mon Greavard and its evolution Houndstone, who can be encountered by completing a special Timed Research. However, shiny Phantump might steal the show during this event as it and its evolution Trevenant have some fantastic shiny variants.

Pokemon GO Players Will Want to Hunt for Shiny Phantump During the Halloween Event

Shiny variants in Pokemon GO can often be hit-or-miss depending on how much their alternate color palettes differ from their base forms with some being drastic departures that provide a unique new look to the mon while others are too similar to their regular forms to be noticeable. Recent events have been a mixed bag for shinies with September's Community Day featuring the fantastic shiny Grubbin, but October's Community Day included a mediocre shiny Timburr. Luckily, Pokemon GO's Halloween Event 2023 is set to be another treat for shiny hunters with shiny Phantump and Trevenant falling into the former category.

Typically, Phantump has a dark, ghostly body with a brown stump for a head with green leaves coming off of it and reddish-pink eyes. Shiny Phantump makes some subtle changes, with its stump head becoming a more gray-brown, its leaves becoming scarlet, and its eyes becoming a cool blue resulting in a great-looking color combination that really captures autumn. Although it doesn't change drastically from its regular form, shiny Phantump has a very appealing color palette that makes it distinct enough that shiny hunters will want to add it to their collection during this event.

While shiny Phantump is great on its own, its evolution Trevenant gets a drastic change to its color palette making it well worth the time and investment to hunt for one. Trevenant's base form shares most of its color palette with Phantump, but the majority of its body becomes tree bark, and the leaves on its head become fuller and spread to its arms. As a result, Trevenant's shiny becomes predominantly light gray and is accented by red-brown leaves while gaining a purple eye color, making the menacing design of Trevenant even more frightening and ghostly.

With these beautiful shiny color designs, Phantump and Trevenant are sure to be some of the most coveted mons among Pokemon GO players during the Halloween Event 2023. Players taking part in this event will even get the chance to encounter Phantump with boosted shiny odds as rewards for Field Research along with Misdreavus who will also have its shiny odds boosted. To celebrate their successful shiny hunts, players can even purchase a Phantump Head cosmetic item for their player avatar along with a handful of other newly-added cosmetic items like a Yamask Mask, Cofagrigus Costume and Head, and Greavard Wig.
