A strange Pokemon GO glitch shows a player hatched a monster that can only be found in raid battles. Since its release on Android and iOS in 2016, Pokemon GO remains as popular as ever, but despite this gamers have found that the Niantic-developed mobile game has its fair share of glitches.

Pokemon GO has been a smash hit and has regularly found itself at the top of both iOS and Android storefronts since it was released almost seven years ago. Niantic has been releasing various quality-of-life improvements to Pokemon GO to keep players coming back to complete the Pokedex and raid battles are one avenue where players can do this. Gamers can team up with others to take on a legendary Pokemon that once defeated, grants the opportunity for it to be added to their collection.

A Redditor by the name of astealis has noticed that a recently caught Reshiram appears when they apply the hatched search filter on the Pokemon screen. As the legendary fire dragon can only be caught by completing a tough raid battle, this is more of an interesting visual glitch rather than the player doing anything untoward in the game.

Replies to the discovery have been mostly tongue in cheek with the suggestion that since monsters spawn out of eggs before any raids start, Reshiram’s hatch status is technically accurate. The discovery might not be game-breaking by any stretch of the imagination, but it does add to the long list of glitches present in the game such as one player’s battle with Team GO Rocket that saw their Porygon battling high above the Pokemon GO map.

Elsewhere, gamers have been having fun speculating the contents of an egg obtained in Pokemon GO in 2016, when the game first launched. When hatched, the 2-Kilometer egg could very well provide one of the three Kanto starters made up of Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle. However, it is, unfortunately, more likely that the egg could hatch either a Rattata or Magikarp, both of which have been common candy fodder for players since the game's release.

Despite Niantic’s push to further monetize aspects of the game such as the paid Keldeo Special Research, which drew a lot of ire from Pogo fans, the free-to-play title continues to be as popular as ever. Events like the ongoing 2023 New Year’s celebration and the monthly community days will be prevalent throughout the year and fans will no doubt be excited for the new monsters that will inevitably work their way into the game.

Pokemon GO is available on Android and iOS.
