Starting tomorrow, the last Pokemon GO Fest kicks off in Yokohama, Japan. The latest event is a celebration for the Pokemon GO community by kicking off a number of special, limited events like Pikachu Outbreakchu and increased spawn rates of specific types of Pokemon for those attending. In an effort to include players who may not be able to make it to Japan, Niantic is making sure all trainers across the globe are eligible for its latest promotion.

In a new surprise Tweet, the official Pokemon GO account revealed that during the latest festival from August 6 to the 12, the iconic electric mouse Pokemon, Pikachu will be spawning globally wearing a different type of hat each day. For those who may have missed a specific Pikachu event over the past year, this is a prime chance to fill out the Pokedex with special variants like Detective Pikachu, Santa Hat Pikachu, Witch Hat Pikachu, Ash Ketchum Pikachu, and more.

Based on the community reaction, it appears that more than a few fans are a little disappointed with the announcement. The problem seems to stem from the fact that during this celebration that game is increasing the spawn rate of Poliwag and its shiny light blue counterpart. The fear among the community is that these Hat Pikachus will clutter the spawns and make catching the rare shiny Poliwag much harder than previously thought.

There's more to see and do outside of Pikachu and Poliwag during the next week, however. New Global Challenges will task the three teams with finishing 25 million research tasks during the celebration in exchange for stardust and star pieces. If all three teams complete the challenge, Niantic has promised that the legendary Pokemon Suicune, and its shiny variant, will be available early in raids starting August 17. This promotion also crosses over with the shiny Bonsly and gifting event, giving fans even more reasons to jump back in over the next few days.

Pokemon GO is available now on Android and iOS.
