Niantic and The Pokemon Company are teasing a major announcement set to come soon related to this year's edition of Pokemon GO Fest. The annual live event held at locations across the world has become a highlight of the year for Pokemon GO fans with in-person events held in North America, Europe, and Japan. Last year's GO Fest saw the long-awaited return of the event after missing the past two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, the developer is gearing up to unveil the 2023 edition of the celebration.Pokemon GO's live event in 2022 marked the first time Pokemon GO Fest had featured in-person events since 2019. The celebration of the massively popular monster-catching mobile game held in-person gatherings across three cities throughout the summer of 2022. Niantic kicked off last year's festival in early July with a two-day event in Berlin, Germany before later holding gatherings in Seattle, Washington and Sapporo, Japan. The video parodies an airport's arrivals and departures board, showcasing the cities where both GO Fest 2019 and 2022 were held. The 2023 slots are left spinning as the short video concludes, teasing an announcement to come soon related to 2023's featured cities. Both 2019's and 2022's European events were in German cities with Berlin and Dortmund, while the North American event has featured both the West Coast and Midwestern US cities in Seattle and Chicago.

While the teaser did not give any clues about the destination for 2023's Pokemon GO Fest, past events suggest a wide variety of new content for the game with the festival. 2022's GO Fest featured several exclusive events giving fans the chance to capture Pokemon normally tied to specific regions like Torkoal and Tropius. The finale of last year's event even saw the opportunity to catch the Sky Forme of Gen 4 Mythical Pokemon Shaymin. This year's Pokemon GO Fest is expected to be held sometime during the summer of 2023.

Though Pokemon GO Fest is still a few months away, Pokemon GO has plenty of new Pokemon in store for players in the near future. Pokemon GO's Sustainability Week 2023 will cap off the week-long event on Wednesday, April 26, with players still able to obtain the recently-added Bounsweet and its evolutions. Niantic also announced a special Elite Raid event for next month giving players another chance to capture the elusive Regidrago on May 13. A Pokemon GO Fest 2023 announcement will add to an already rich lineup of content for the popular mobile game.
