Pokemon GO Fest 2020 is right around the corner and a month from now players will be making their final preparations for the massive global event. Instead of the usual in-person event this year's GO Fest is going to offer two jam-packed days of play-from-anywhere activities that allow the PoGO community to celebrate another year of the mobile game from wherever they find themselves.

Niantic is doing a lot of work to make the virtual event just as engaging as ever and keeping a focus on community and fun. To make sure players are as motivated to participate in the event as they would be if they were traveling to an in-person event in a major city, the team is offering some very exciting features and bonuses including tons special spawns, a Mythical Pokemon encounter, and new ways to interact with team members and the community virtually.

There's a lot of information about GO Fest 2020 soak in, but still a lot of mysteries as well. Exactly which Pokemon spawns will be increased, which Mythical Pokemon will be appearing, and a number of other reveals will likely be saved for right before (or even during) the Pokemon GO event. That said, there's still plenty to dig into right now as players start getting ready for the event.

Trainers can access a Special Research story that they can get only on Day 1.

Five rotating habitats—themed around fire, water, grass, battle, and friendship—will feature special Pokémon that go along with that habitat’s theme. These habitats will rotate every hour, so each habitat will be featured twice during Day 1.
