Pokemon GO players did everything they needed to during GO Fest 2020 to unlock all of the exciting Ultra Rewards available. Although there has been some serious Dragon Week drama, the events are still progressing as planned with no word of changes from Niantic. Dragon Week has a few days left and Enigma Week is next up on the schedule.

Much like Dragon Week, the next event also brings some special spawns, Battle Raids, and shiny opportunities to Pokemon GO for a full week. The event is scheduled to kick off this Friday, August 7 at 1pm PT. The new event will likely also present a new chain of timed research that offers some unique challenges and additional opportunities to encounter some of the featured enigmatic Pokemon.

Although Dragon Week received a lot of the initial attention when the rewards were revealed thanks to some very powerful metagame potential, the enigma pokemon are pretty impressive, as well. Deoxys has some great potential in the right matchups and is also just a necessary Pokedex entry for many players who didn't receive EX Raid Invites when it was originally in rotation.

When does Enigma Week Start?

Enigma Week will run from Friday, August 7, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. PDT to Friday, August 14, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. PDT (GMT −7).

What are the Enigma Week features and bonuses?

The featured Pokémon range from the mysterious Elgyem to the powerful Deoxys!

Deoxys will be in five-star raids, and if you’re lucky, you might encounter a Shiny one!

You might also encounter a Shiny Staryu.

Once the event is live, we should learn a lot of additional details about exactly which enigmatic pokemon will be features in increased spawn rates and what sort of tasks players are going to have to complete in order to work through the new timed research story line. The Dragon Week research featured three parts and presented some unique challenges with Excellent throw requirements and some Rocket Grunt battles, but it was very easy to finish within just a few hours of play for the average level 30+ player. It will be interesting to see if the next group of tasks is of a similar difficulty level or if this timed research will be a bit more challenging and cause players to really log in every day of the week to get things finished in time (similar to the timed research that appeared in the weeks leading up to GO Fest 2020). Those tasks were difficult enough that some players actually failed to complete them in time, so hopefully the tasks won't be quite that intense this time around.

Once the new event arrives this weekend, the festivities should give trainers a good reason to take a break from catching the best Unova Pokemon in the game and concentrate on something new for a bit. Check back for more Pokemon GO updates closer to the event. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
