Even with the COVID-19 pandemic altering and changing the world and how people interact with one another, the mobile title Pokemon GO continues to thrive. Although developer Niantic had to pivot a bit with how Pokemon GO functions to keep its player base safe while exploring the world, its fan base hasn't wavered throughout the years. A large part of that is likely due to the consistent updates, adding new quests, events, and Pokemon for players to find.

For 2022 alone, Niantic has already added tons of new content into Pokemon GO, with a season devoted to the Alola region, previously seen in the Pokemon Sun and Moon titles. While this has included plenty of Alolan form Pokemon, it has also seen the arrival of new creatures like Salandit, Salazzle, Oranguru, and more. Recently, Pokemon GO has made substantial changes to Mega Evolutions, and to celebrate, the game has brought back numerous Pokemon that can take advantage as well as special quests to complete.

With May having finally arrived, Niantic has a whole new suite of events and challenges arriving each week into the game. This week sees a new event called Electrify the Sky and here are all of the challenges and rewards players can find in Pokemon GO.

Pokemon GO Latias and Latios Raids

Pokemon GO: Electrify the Sky Timed Research Details

This latest limited time event focuses on flying type Pokemon and will be active from May 3 to May 8. The event centers around the Mega Evolution forms of Latios and Latias, giving players an opportunity to earn Mega Energy for them as well as additional rewards.

Thankfully, this is a shorter quest with only 1 step two parts, so it shouldn't be too challenging for players to complete it within the limited timeframe.

Pokemon GO Flying Pikachu

Electrify the Sky Quest Steps and Rewards

For step one, players will need to capture 10 Flying Pikachu. During this event, players will find Pikachu floating in the air thanks to a number of balloons more often in the wild, making this fairly easy to finish. The reward for finishing this step is 50 Latias Mega Energy.

The second part of this quest is to Catch 30 Flying-type Pokemon, not challenging but may take a bit of time depending on the location of the player and how many Pokemon spawn in. Finishing this step awards 50 Latios Mega Energy. Thankfully, this event also boosts the spawn rate of Flying Pokemon including Wingull, Swablu, and even Charizard.

Once both steps are complete, players can finish the quest in full which awards 3,000XP and another Flying Pikachu encounter.

Pokemon GO is available now on mobile devices.
