Although some Pokemon from the Kalos region have been added into Pokemon GO, players are still waiting for a majority of the generation six Pokemon to be available in the mobile title. One Pokemon that many players are in anticipation for it Sylveon, the Fairy-type evolution for Eevee.

Eevee is special in Pokemon GO with how its evolutionary methods are sometimes different from how they are in the mainline Pokemon titles. Its original three evolutions are essentially random with Espeon and Umbreon being influenced by friendship levels and time of day like in the original games. Glaceon and Leafeon meanwhile rely on specialized lures in order to evolve.

With all of these extra steps to evolve, some players may have trouble filling out their Pokedexes when it comes to Eevee's evolutions. Thankfully however, players can directly influence the Pokemon that their Eevee can evolve into via certain nicknames. Once players get the Eevee evolution for the name however, they cannot use the nickname trick for that evolution again.

With Sylveon on the way it will likely have its own unique evolution method to go along with the other Eevee evolutions. Players however have already seemingly found the nickname for Sylveon, with it being "Kira." This is due to players getting a network error when attempting to evolve an Eevee with that name.

Each of the evolution nicknames have some kind of significance to them, often being the reason for how players discovered them. For example, the names "Rainer," "Sparky," and "Pyro" were the English dub names for the Eevee brothers in the Pokemon anime. These names then could be used to evolve Eevee into Vaporeon, Jolteon, or Flareon respectively. The possible reason behind the name "Kira" for Sylveon could be due to Japanese word "kira-kira," which means sparkling or glittering. This is perfect for Sylveon, which is a pure Fairy-type Pokemon.

It is currently still unknown when Sylveon will be officially added to the game, but its model is among the recent Pokemon GO leaks surrounding upcoming Pokemon. In between this time and the time of Sylveon's release it is entirely possible for the Eevee nickname for Sylveon to change due to it being discovered early. With Sylveon also currently being the last of Eevee's evolutions being implemented into Pokemon GO, its inclusion is bound to be special for many who have been waiting for its arrival since the very beginning.
