With November having finally arrived, many are celebrating Dia de Muertos, also known as the Day of the Dead. Pokemon GO is joining the celebration with a special event running from November 1st at 10:00 AM to November 2nd at 8:00 PM in players' local times.

During this time, Pokemon GO players will get the benefits of longer-lasting Incense and Lure Modules and double the amount of earned Stardust from catching Pokemon. Players in Latin America and the Caribbean will additionally get one extra bonus candy from transferring Pokemon.

Like many other events, there is a special Collection Challenge that players can complete. If players catch all the required Pokemon before the event is over, they will get an Incense, a Poffin, and an encounter with Shedinja.

Dia de Muertos Collection Challenge

Pokemon Sableye

There are eight Pokemon in total that players need to catch for the Dia de Muertos Collection Challenge. They are:

Sunkern

Roselia

Murkrow

Cubone

Houndour

Sableye

Sunflora

Drifloon

Lucky for Pokemon GO players, all of these Pokemon can appear normally in the wild as one of the event spawns. In addition to this, all of these Pokemon except for Roselia will be attracted by Incense used during the event.

There aren't any raid bosses for this event to take advantage of for the Collection Challenge, but there are a few event field research tasks that can help. The following field research tasks will give players an encounter with a Pokemon needed for the challenge.

Field Research Task

Reward

Make a Great Throw

Sunkern Encounter

Make a Nice Curveball Throw

Cubone Encounter OR Roselia Encounter

Like how players in Latin America and the Caribbean will get bonus transfer candy, players in those locations will also get increased spawn rates for these event Pokemon. This means that players in those regions will have a much easier time completing this challenge, but that doesn't mean that other players don't have a good chance as well.

After this event, Pokemon GO players still have a lot to look forward to for the month of November. Starting on Friday, November 5th at 10:00 AM in players' local times is the Festival of Lights event. This will be introducing Dedenne into the game, a dual Electric and Fairy-type Pokemon. The event will also be for the celebration of Diwali, a five-day festival observed by Hindus, Jains, Sikhs, and some Buddhists. Because of this, players in India will be getting special benefits for this upcoming event.

Pokemon GO is available on Android and iOS.
