Pokemon GO gives players a variety of ways to catch Pokemon. The most common method is by simply encountering Pokemon out in the wild and throwing a Poke Ball at them, but it's also possible to get Pokemon by hatching them from eggs. There are a variety of Pokemon eggs that players can get in Pokemon GO, each with their own pool of Pokemon that can hatch from them. Now Pokemon GO players are asking Niantic to add a big quality of life improvement to Pokemon eggs, but it's unlikely that it will be implemented.

Reddit user TCA-Main_Man took to the Pokemon GO subreddit to ask Niantic for the ability to delete Pokemon eggs from one's inventory. Their post has amassed nearly 2,000 upvotes at the time of this writing, indicating that many Pokemon GO players are in agreement that the feature should be added to the popular augmented reality mobile game. As for why Pokemon GO players would want such a feature, the answer is simple.

Pokemon GO players can only carry a limited number of eggs at a time, and they don't know what kind of egg they're going to be getting whenever they spin a PokeStop. So if a Pokemon GO player has already collected all the Pokemon from the 2km eggs, they are no longer of use to them, and they may want to save those slots for 10km Pokemon eggs instead. But since there's no way to delete them and no way of knowing what type of egg one is going to get, Pokemon GO players are basically stuck with eggs they don't want or need.

At the time of this writing, the only way to clear space in one's Pokemon GO egg inventory is by doing the work to hatch the eggs. Hatching eggs in Pokemon GO is a matter of adding them to incubators and then walking the required distance to hatch them. However, incubators are a limited resource in Pokemon GO, with players usually having to spend real money if they hope to hatch multiple eggs at once.

But this is exactly why Niantic is unlikely to add this highly-requested Pokemon GO quality of life feature. If Pokemon GO players have to use incubators to hatch more eggs so they can make room for eggs they actually need, they will be more likely to spend money on more incubators. Niantic stands to make more money by keeping Pokemon GO players from being able to delete eggs from their inventory.

Niantic has been back-and-forth on Pokemon GO quality of life features as it is, adding a bunch at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic that were well-received by the community, only for them to be taken away later. Considering this, Pokemon GO fans shouldn't hold their breath that deleting eggs will be added any time soon, if ever.

Pokemon GO is out now for iOS and Android mobile devices.
