Pokemon GO's September 2020 Porygon Community Day is set to begin today, September 20, and it will run from 11am to 5pm local time. While players can enjoy increased Porygon spawns and an exclusive Field Research at absolutely no cost during this event, there is a paid Special Research that some fans may be interested in pursuing. This Special Research is dubbed Decoding Porygon, and this guide is here to provide full details on the tasks and rewards that Pokemon GO players that purchase it will gain access to.

As many fans are likely to expect, the Decoding Porygon Special Research in Pokemon GO puts a heavy emphasis on the event's featured Gen 6 Pokemon. More specifically, players that wish to complete all of the tasks will be catching a myriad of Porygon and even evolving some of them. These fans will also need to pull out their Nice and Great Curveball throwing skills, as both of these types of Throws are part of the September 2020 Porygon Community Day Special Research tasks.

Rewards: 2,000 Stardust, 3 Rare Candies, Porygon-Z Encounter

While the Rare Candies and other rewards that can be earned directly through PoGo's Decoding Porygon Special Research will undoubtedly be of interest to many players, perhaps the most compelling aspect of it is that it will lead fans to obtaining a Porygon-Z with an exclusive move (Tri Attack). Indeed, any Porygon2 that is evolved during today's Community Day, or within two hours of its conclusion, will result in this special Porygon-Z, and the Decoding Porygon tasks guide players straight through this process.

That said, Pokemon GO fans can certainly earn a Porygon-Z with Tri Attack without having purchased the Decoding Porygon Special Research – it simply provides a bit of direction. As such, fans that are on the fence about buying the September 2020 Community Day Research will need to decide if the Stardust, Upgrade, and other rewards that come through completing its task are worth the $0.99.
