Pokemon GO’s Community Day is a time-honored tradition in the game, where Niantic highlights a specific Pokemon, increases the possibility of getting shinies, and gives evolutions of the featured Pokemon a special, sometimes meta-defining move. Past Pokemon GO Community Days have featured starters, pseudo legendaries, and other fan-favorite Pokemon.

The next Pokemon GO Community Day has been confirmed to take place on Sunday, July 17, from 11 am to 2 pm local times. The featured Pokemon for the new community day is Starly.

Starly’s spawn rate and shiny rate will be increased throughout the event. If players are able to catch enough Starly to evolve them into a Staraptor eventually, they’ll unlock the fast attack Gust. This move will be available if players obtain the Staraptor during the event or up to five hours afterward. There will also be some special Pokemon GO research that players can access for $1 USD.

Other bonuses include the following:

  • 3x Catch XP
  • 2x chance to receive Starly Candy XL
  • 2x candy from catching Pokemon
  • Lure modules last for three hours
  • Incense last for three hours
  • Community Day snapshots come with a surprise
  • One additional special trade can be made during the event

Furthermore, groups of Pokemon GO players who catch Pokemon off a single Lure module will increase to 4x bonus XP for thirty minutes during it. The time period for the event comes to an end eventually, but there will be one more bonus before the day is done. Staravia will appear in four-star Pokemon GO raids—they cannot be accessed, however, via remote raid passes—and defeating it will increase the Starly spawn rate in a 300-meter radius for 30 minutes.

Beyond the coming Community Day, Pokemon GO has announced that it will be adding more of Sun and Moon’s Ultra Beasts at the upcoming GO Fest events. Three more will be added, corresponding to its three real-world events. Ultra Beast Pheromosa will appear in Berlin at the July 1 event, Buzzwole will be at Seattle’s July 22 event, and Xurkitree will be at Sapporo at the August 5 event.

It’ll be interesting to see what else Pokemon GO adds in the coming weeks and months, but the mobile game benefits from the popularity of the franchise. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet release in November, and it stands to reason that their popularity could also boost Pokemon GO more. It’ll be good for the entire franchise, nonetheless.

Pokemon GO is available now on Mobile devices.
