Pokemon GO PvE fans have some of the most exciting opportunities in the game to battle against powerful Pokemon and earn valuable encounter rewards. Getting the most value out of those high-level Legendary Battle Raids often means taking the time to carefully study each opponent and develop an optimal counter roster before heading into a battle. Doing that effectively means knowing every Pokemon's strengths and weaknesses.

When it comes to squaring off against a dual-type like Cobalion, players are going to need to stick to a careful strategy to take advantage of every weakness and avoid a super long list of resistances. Luckily, Cobalion's particular weaknesses have popped up in the PoGO metagame quite a few times recently, so some players should have at least a few of the optimal counters already equipped with the right move sets and powered up for the fight.

Cobalion is a Gen 5 Steel- and Fighting-Type Legendary. That means that Pokemon GO players are going to want to bust out their strongest Fire-, Fighting-, and Ground-types for these Raids. Cobalion isn't quite as tough as some of the other Legendaries if the group has the right counters equipped and a high level group of players could pretty usually take these raids down with 3-5 participants. Lower level groups will want to stick with 5-7 players to be safe.

As always, it’s not the end of the world if a trainer can’t assemble the perfect counter roster based on these suggestions. The most important thing is to enter the battle with enough friends (at least three or four mid- to high-level players) and to focus on using Pokemon that take advantage of the boss’ weaknesses. Raiders should have a decent amount of Fire-, Fighting-, or Ground-types Pokemon powered up, so that’s a good place to start. Don’t hesitate to burn through some Stardust, Rare Candy, and TMs in order to properly prepare for the big fight.
