Pokemon GO's big anniversary event is still a few weeks away, but trainers are already racing around their cities (or using incense and working from home) to complete a serious of exciting tasks to unlock some special rewards in the weeks leading up to the GO Fest 2020 event. There will be three weeklong special challenges and the first one is already under way and sending players into the game to put their skills to the test.

Each of the three free challenge weeks leading up to GO Fest 2020 have a theme (Skill, Battle, and Friendship). The skill tasks are mostly self-explanatory. Players will be tasked with making increasingly difficult throws from Nice to Great to Excellent and they will also need to catch and transfer a lot of Pokemon during the three step challenge. During the third set, Pokemon GO players will also need to catch 25 different specials of Pokemon to unlock the full rewards for the weekly challenge.

Thanks to the current boosted spawns in Pokemon GO, this task shouldn't be too challenge as long as players don't want until the last minute to complete the tasks. That said, there are a few easy steps that players can take to cross this item off of their to-do list in a hurry...

Use Incense

First off, this task (and all the others) is going to be much easier if players activate Incense while they are playing. Thanks to the special play-at-home bonuses that are in place, Incense is extra effective and it also lasts a lot longer. The key to encountering 25 different species of Pokemon is simply to maximize the number of encounters per time played. That means that players want to encounter as many Pokemon as possible and keeping Incense active is the fastest way to do that. for most players, this may only take one to two hours of Incense, even if they are playing in a fairly remote area.

Use Special Lures Modules

The second tip will speed things way up, but only for players who have the option of playing near a Pokestop. This obviously isn't an option for everyone, but if it's possible, we recommend it. Luring a nearby Pokestop with special modules will help ensure that Pokemon of different types show up and should result in many encounters with Pokemon who are not a part of the special event spawns. This means that player who have already caught Pikachu, the Kanto starters, and the other Pokemon that are commonly spawning right now will be able to encounter some different species more quickly, even if they wouldn't usually be spawning in that particular area.

That's really all there is to it for this one. The 25 different species should come naturally as long as players keep Incense active and catch everything in sight, but the process will definitely speed up for those who take the time to find a few Pokestops and spend some special lures.

As trainers continue working through all of these amazing events, they may want to keep hunting down the best Unova Pokemon in the game if improving their Battle Raid rosters and completing their Pokedex is their primary goal. Be sure to check back in the near future for more Pokemon GO strategy guides, news, and updates. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
