Pokemon GO fans understand the value of powerful Shiny monsters; some variants are so rare that they only appear once in a few years. Niantic has different ways to involve Shiny Monsters in the game, but most Shiny debut as event exclusives. The Solstice Horizons event debuts Shiny Fomantis and features several other Shiny variants like Shiny Solrock and Shiny Lunatone.

Shiny Solrock and Shiny Lunatone debuted in the 2019 Pokemon GO Equinox event; these monsters have been available since then. But identifying Shiny Lunatone is difficult, as only the eye color changes (pinkish-red to blue). Shiny Solrock is easier to spot with a red/blood-orange body. Careful observation is crucial in distinguishing these Shiny variants. That said, this guide discusses catching Shiny Solrock and Shiny Lunatone in detail.

Pokemon GO: How to Catch Shiny Solrock and Shiny Lunatone

Solrock and Lunatone in Pokemon GO

Solrock and Lunatone often return with multiple Pokemon GO events. They usually roam wild in abundance on featured occasions. One such event is the recent Solstice Horizons which started on June 16, 10:00 am and ends on June 25, 8:00 pm local time. Solrock and Lunatone have direct ties with the Daytime and Nighttime; Solrock’s design looks like the sun, and Lunatone fully reflects the moon’s design.

Since Solrock and Lunatone are abundant during the event, many are searching for their shiny counterparts. These monsters have individual spawn conditions during the ongoing Solstice Horizons event. While Solrock only spawns during the daytime, players must wait until nighttime for Lunatone to spawn in Pokemon GO.

To secure a Shiny encounter in Pokemon GO, trainers must maximize the Pocket Monster’s spawn rate. The higher the spawn rate, the faster they encounter a Shiny variant.

There are several ways to increase any Pokemon’s spawn rate; players can utilize different in-game options. Players can use the Weather Boost function to increase the spawn rate of a monster. Pokemon GO Incense attaches to the player and boosts the spawn rate while traversing. Lure Modules also attach to a PokeStop or a Gym and increase the Pokemon spawn rate in that area.

Since both Solrock and Lunatone are featured monsters, they experience a boosted spawn rate during the Solstice Horizons event. Their spawn rate can increase more during Partly Cloudy and Windy weather; it is ideal to Shiny hunt in areas with such conditions.

Attach a Lure Module to a gym with Partly Cloudy and Windy weather; both items’ effects will stack. Players should also use Incense and walk around the gym to take it one notch above.

Using all three things simultaneously can stack their effects and propel the Pokemon spawn rate. One thing to remember is that Shiny Solrock only spawns in the daytime, and Shiny Lunatone only spawns in the nighttime.

Pokemon GO is available for Android and iOS.
