Fans take to social media to express their discontent over another recent Pokemon GO event issue, this time involving the addition of a new Pokemon to the hit title. October has been a pretty busy month in general for Niantic as the studio brought back Elite Raids with Hoopa Unbound, kicked off the Season of Light with Cosmog, and also launched the annual Halloween event for players. However, one of the biggest changes this month came with a significant game update that completely overhauled the Pokemon GO world map and added some visual flair on top of it.

For all of the additions the game has seen, the experience hasn't been perfect, especially with Pokemon GO adjusting back to the way things were prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. While Niantic had to get creative with its game about exploring and socializing considering that the world emphasized social distancing, many of those changes have since been reverted. In addition, both Season of Go and Season of Light have suffered from various issues, forcing Niantic to even redo events due to major problems.

This week, Niantic was teasing the surprise addition of Zorua to Pokemon GO, originally scheduled to appear during the October 25 Spotlight hour that featured Shuppet. However, things didn't play out the way fans were hoping as Niantic announced a bug impacting the Zorua spawns, retaining the stats of the Pokemon that Zorua was taking the place of. In order to fix the problem, the event was effectively canceled, though for those who were already able to find one, the bugged Zorua could not be traded, sent to Pokemon HOME, or used in the GO Battle League.

Naturally, this kicked off a wave of frustration and disappointment from fans who took to social media to express their irritation at another Pokemon GO event that was not working as intended. Some attempted to offer potential solutions such as Dengarsw who suggested creating a test server that is open for players to jump on to help find issues before they go live. However, for most players, most of the disappointment stemmed from the fact that Zorua is a highly requested Pokemon that many were excited to finally catch in the game.

Much of the frustration also likely stems from another recent event that Niantic also cut short due to an unforeseen bug. During Litwik community day earlier in October, players were set to take on 4 star Lampent Raids, which provided a boost to spawn rates. However, the return of Elite Raids accidentally canceled out the Lampent Raids and prevented them from spawning, which forced Niantic to apologize to those who missed their window of opportunity due to the oversight.
