Even through a global pandemic which has forced people to stay at home, the mobile game Pokemon GO has continued to thrive, even managing to be one of the highest grossing mobile titles in 2020. A large reason for that can be attributed to its developer Niantic which has brought numerous changes to the experience to better fit the current situation. This includes more user friendly changes to egg hatching distance, special bonuses that players can utilize from home, 1 coin bundles form the store, and many more.

In addition, the developer has continued to roll out special events on a fairly consistent basis, whether that means new raid encounters, special research, or other limited time activities. Just recently, the game started a Kanto Celebration introducing timed research tasks and encounters highlighting many of the original 150 Pokemon. While the Kanto Tour may be coming to a close soon, Niantic is starting a Season of Legends event headlined by none other than Team Rocket leader, Giovanni.

In a recent post detailing the month of March, Niantic revealed that Giovanni will be returning to Pokemon GO starting on March 1, available to battle after players get  their hands on a Super Rocket Radar. To assist with that, a Special Research quest will allow players to get their hands on one following a number of steps. Interestingly enough, Season of Legends lasts for three months, with Niantic promising new opportunities each month to battle the Team Rocket Leader and earn his new Shadow Pokemon.

Instead of only coming with one Legendary Shadow Pokemon as he usually does, Giovanni will have three across the entire three months that the event runs. In March, players who battle Giovanni will have an opportunity to capture Shadow Articuno. In April, that changes to Shadow Zapdos, and finally in May, players can attempt to get Shadow Moltres. While players have had plenty of chances to catch the Legendary Bird Trio, players will not want to miss catching these special Shadow variants, which have a substantial boost in attack power.

In addition to the return of Giovanni, March looks to be a fairly busy month for Pokemon GO players. The 5 star raid schedule includes the Incarnate Formes of Landorus, Tornadus, and Thundurus, with Mega Raids including Houndoom, Abomasnow, Blastois, Pidgeot, Ampharos, and a surprise in the later half of the month. Niantic has also detailed a number of smaller events, including Weather Week, Incense Day, an Electric-type event called Charged Up, and plenty of opportunity to catch spotlighted Pokemon like Nosepass and Gible.

Pokemon GO is available on Android and iOS.
