Players in Pokemon GO have access to many different powerful Pokemon that are useful for PVP battles, gyms, and raids. One Pokemon that is useful against multiple difficult foes is Rhyperior, the final evolution of the Rhyhorn line.

To get Rhyperior, players can evolve their Rhyhorn into Rhydon via 25 Rhyhorn candies. Rhydon can then be evolved into Rhyperior with 100 more Rhyhorn candies and a special Pokemon GO exclusive item, a Sinnoh Stone.

Rhyperior is a dual Ground and Rock-type Pokemon giving it weaknesses to Water, Grass, Ground, Ice, Steel, and Fighting-type moves. While this amount of weaknesses may seem intimidating, Rhyperior has just as many resistances with it resisting Normal, Rock, Flying, Fire, Electric, and Poison-type moves.

There are two different fast moves that Rhyperior can learn, being Mud-Slap and Smack Down. When it comes to charge moves however, there are eight different options with a good amount of type coverage available.

Despite all of the possible move combinations, there is one definitive moveset that provides the greatest amount of DPS possible for Rhyperior. This moveset is:

  • Fast Move - Mud-Slap
  • Charge Move - Rock Wrecker

Mud-Slap can be easily taught to a Rhyperior that knows Smack Down through any Fast TM that players have available. Rock Wrecker meanwhile is a different story, with it usually being an event-exclusive move when it comes to Rhyperior knowing it. It however can still be taught through the use of an Elite Charge TM.

The main method of obtaining Elite Charge TMs is through participating in the GO Battle League. It is often a prize for participating players when a league's season ends, letting players have access to previously exclusive moves.

If players do not have an Elite Charge TM, there is another charge move that can be used as a substitute before Rock Wrecker is able to be taught. This move is Earthquake, another powerful move that can help deal with a good number of Pokemon. The DPS isn't as high as Rock Wrecker, but it is better than any of the other charge moves.

Rhyperior is effective against multiple difficult raid bosses including Entei, Moltres, and one of the current Mega Raid Bosses, Mega Houndoom. It is also a good choice for PVP battles with there being plenty of Pokemon that can't penetrate Rhyperior's high defenses before their own Pokemon faint. Players will be able to find Rhydon and Rhyhorn among the other Kanto Pokemon for the Pokemon GO: Tour Kanto event later this month.
