The Ground and Steel-type Pokemon is one of the classics, hailing back from Generation 2. While Steelix has been available since the release of Johto Pokemon, the shiny variant of Steelix was added to the game in 2019 as part of the Adventure Week event, and the mega variant was added even much later in 2021. Since then, it has featured multiple times in mega raids, and for fans looking to make the most out of their Steelix, here is the best moveset for it.

Mega Steelix can be a really good Pokemon in Pokemon GO if players use it strategically. What makes it stand apart is its resistance to a wide range of types comprising Normal, Flying, Bug, Steel, Psychic, Dragon, Fairy, Rock, Electric, and Poison. This makes it an extremely difficult Pokemon to counter, and the opponent will need to capitalize on its specific weaknesses, which include Fighting, Fire, Ground, and Water-type moves.

While Mega Steelix might not be one of the strongest offensive Pokemon in the game due to its 4149 CP, 212 attack, 327 defense, and 181 stamina stat spread, it is great for defense. In fact, it is considered one of the best Steel tanks in the meta.

Picking Mega Steelix's Best Moveset

As far as the best moveset for Mega Steelix is concerned, the combination of Iron Tail and Earthquake is considered to be the strongest duo for the Pokemon. Iron Tail's Steel-type and Earthquake's Ground-type ensure that both attacks take advantage of the same type attack bonus. This means that both the attacks inflict much more damage, thanks to them being of the same type as Steelix's base type.

  • Iron Tail inflicts 15 damage and adds 7 energy, which can prove to be quite handy in using some of the Mega Steelix's charged attacks. With a DPS of 13.6, it is strong against Rock, Ice, and Fairy Pokemon. Additionally, the damage gets boosted in snowy weather.
  • Earthquake inflicts 140 damage and takes 100 energy, which has been accumulated to perform the attack. It has a DPS of 38.9 and is strong against Poison, Rock, Steel, Fire, and Electric types.
