Pokemon GO features many of the most iconic Pokemon from The Pokemon Company's sprawling franchise, including the mammoth-like Mamoswine. Mamoswine is a 4th Generation pokemon that was first introduced to the game back in February 2019. Known as the Twin Tusk Pokemon, it's the final evolution of Swinub, and one of the strongest Ice-Types in Pokemon GO.

The combination of Ice and Ground gives Mamoswine the ability to tackle a wider range of types than most Pokemon, dealing at least neutral damage most of the time. Unfortunately, this comes at the cost of a fairly wide range of vulnerabilities to Fighting, Steel, Fire, Water, and Grass. This means Mamoswine players will need to choose carefully when finding the perfect moveset for their Twin Tusk Pokemon.

Best Offensive Moveset for Mamoswine in Pokemon GO

Players have a couple of options when it comes to choosing Mamoswine's offensive moveset in Pokemon GO, and should pick based on which other Pokemon will be on the team. The first set offers the greatest versatility, combining the Ground-type Mud Slap with the Ice-Type Avalanche. This allows Mamoswine to take on a wide range of Pokemon without worrying about resistance, but relies heavily on the DPS power of Mud-Slap.

The other optimal moveset for Mamoswine ignores the Ground-Type moves in favor of combining Powder Snow and Avalanche. While this will make it harder for Mamoswine to deal with Pokemon that are resistant to Ice, Powder Snow's high EPS will allow it to use Avalanche much more often.

Best Defensive Moveset for Mamoswine in Pokemon GO

Whether a Pokemon's best defensive moveset is the same as its best offensive moveset in Pokemon GO differs from Pokemon to Pokemon. In Mamoswine's case, there's not much difference between the best moves for PvP and PvE combat, and the best moves for defending a gym. A defensive Mamoswine will do particularly well with the Mud Slap/Avalanche combo, which may even be more powerful than it is on the offense.

Alternatively, a defensive Mamoswine can be built for full Ground, combining Mud Slap with Bulldoze instead of Avalanche. Despite having a lower DPS overall, Bulldoze has a longer duration than Avalanche, and offers a hard counter to Steel and Rock-Types. This makes it more effective in the hands of an AI while defending a Pokemon GO gym.
