Niantic has just announced that it is kicking off the seventh-year anniversary celebrations of Pokemon GO soon, sharing details of what players can expect once the occasion finally comes around. Given how the Pokemon GO community has been very critical of Niantic and what the company has been doing with the game, going all-out with in-game events and activities seems like a good way to placate players' current negative feelings.The company is no stranger to controversial news and topics. Making headlines online recently, Niantic announced that it is laying off employees and closing down two titles, NBA All World and Marvel: World of Heroes. What's more, gameplay changes implemented by the company in Pokemon GO itself have made the fan base quite disappointed with the experience overall. Now, with the seventh-year anniversary celebration bringing a lot of activities into the mobile game, fans can only hope that everything will run seamlessly for the event's duration.RELATED: Pokemon GO Reverts Major Change And Players Aren’t HappyAccording to the official Pokemon GO website, the 7th Anniversary Party event will be held for almost a week, from July 6, 2023, 10:00 a.m. to July 12, 2023, at 8:00 p.m. Details about what fans can expect during the event are also shared on the site, including the in-game debut of costumed Wartortle and Blastoise wearing party hats. Fans who want to add these Pokemon to their Pokedex can do so by evolving a Squirtle wearing a party hat. Other activities include costumed pocket creatures such as Squirtle and Pikachu appearing more frequently in the wild, with the possibility of encountering their shiny versions.

Starting July 6, each day will also feature the three starter Pokemon from each generation, making them spawn more frequently in the game's map. The raids of Pokemon GO will also have Gen 1 Pokemon as the bosses, so fans can encounter the generation's legendary birds in Five-Star Raids and Mega Blastoise in Mega Raids. Of course, the event will have in-game bonuses and anniversary-themed Field Research tasks as well as paid activities like Timed Research and Masterwork Research story that features the mythical Pokemon Mew.

Overall, there is a lot to look forward to when the 7th Anniversary Party finally rolls around. The Pokemon GO Community Day is also sandwiched into the event, highlighting Squirtle as its main Pokemon of the day.
