With it being December, Pokemon GO has officially entered the winter season and begun its Season of Celebration event, the perfect thing for the month of Christmas and a time of kindness and goodwill towards others. Unfortunately, it sounds as if a large chunk of players aren't feeling the festive spirit and are frustrated with a certain aspect of the game: eggs.

To be more specific, Pokemon GO players have taken issue with the 7km eggs and the Pokemon they contain. In order to hatch an egg, players need to walk a certain number of kilometers. The more kilometers required, the rarer the Pokemon in the egg will be. Though 7km isn't the rarest kind of egg (there are 10km and 12km eggs and October introduced all-new Strange eggs), it's these ones in particular that appear to be greatly irritating players.

A Reddit post found in the unofficial Pokemon GO subreddit and succinctly titled "7km eggs are trash" talks about how frustrating it is to go through the work of hatching one of these eggs, only to keep receiving the same Pokemon. This player mentions constantly getting Alolan forms (first introduced in Pokemon Sun and Moon) and wishes that they'd either be removed or have their hatch rate lowered.

They're clearly not in a minority either. At the time of writing, the post has received more than 4,000 upvotes and over 300 comments from players who feel similarly. One player expresses bafflement that even the most common Alolan forms found in eggs are the same ones that can be found in the wild.

Another says that they stopped caring about eggs in general and a common complaint is that players are finding themselves needing one or two specific Pokemon from eggs and consistently not getting them. While Niantic probably doesn't want to make acquiring rare Pokemon too easy (otherwise, they wouldn't be rare any more), it may want to consider updating hatch rates or at least balancing it so as to make hatching eggs seem more worthwhile, especially when some require so much time spent walking.

These aren't the only complaints to be lobbied against the game recently. Over the weekend, Niantic hyped up players with a mysterious raid egg, only for it to reveal that the egg contained Espurr from Pokemon X and Y. Though this does make it the first Gen 6 Pokemon to be added to GO, it's not exactly an extremely popular Pokemon and there was some disappointment from fans considering how much Niantic was building it up.

Even with regular player complaints, though, Pokemon GO continues to be very profitable for Niantic. Last month, it was reported that the game had made more than $1 billion in revenue.

Pokemon GO is available on Android and iOS devices.
