Many members of the Pokemon community are likely hyped about the launch of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet later this year. The new trailer revealed more about the game’s Gen 9 starter Pokemon, legendaries, and more, sparking excitement within the fanbase. However, some players seem to like kicking it old school, and one fan showed their love for the first generation of Ghost-type Pokemon by making an amazing rug of Gastly, Haunter, and Gengar.
Though more Ghost type Pokemon were introduced after Gen 1, it seems the Pokemon community still has a soft spot for the first three. Gengar is particularly well-loved by the fanbase, given that Gengar products and merchandise are produced by The Pokemon Company on a yearly basis. The trio also make regular appearances in other Pokemon titles, with Gengar even receiving a Dynamax evolution in Pokemon Sword and Shield. So it is no wonder that fans like making themed art and original products that show their love for the Ghost Pokemon.
On Reddit, user anoxicalrugs showed off the Gastly, Haunter, and Gengar rug that they created. Putting the trio of Ghost Pokemon in one image, the artist mainly used a black and purple color scheme to outline each Pokemon. Fans will likely appreciate how the artist also emphasized each Pokemon’s characteristics with dark pink and white-colored yarn. In another post, anoxicalrugs also shared a short video of their rug-making process, to show how the item was painstakingly made by hand.
Comments on both Reddit threads stated that the artist’s work looks pretty awesome, and that they are also fans of the three original Ghost Pokemon. Some inquired about the price of the rug, which the Redditor has yet to reply to. However, according to anoxicalrug’s Reddit profile, they take custom orders so those interested can simply message them to inquire. This is not the first time that anoxicalrug has made Pokemon-themed projects. They have also made several rugs of the Grass-type starter Pokemon Bulbasaur, and more. So it is fair to say that they have enough experience to produce good quality products when commissioned.
Pokemon fans would likely be interested in seeing if anoxicalrug will also make pieces for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. With more than a handful of new Pokemon already revealed, the Pokemon fanbase is likely hoping to see more fan art and merchandise being shared within the community as the game nears its launch.
