A Pokemon fan recently completed the national Dex for generation 3, an impressive feat considering how many version-exclusive Pokemon exist between Pokemon Emerald, Ruby, and Sapphire. Doing so once required a person to buy all three games, or to have friends who had all three with whom you could trade. But even if they did have access to all the Pokemon in-game, there are some ridiculous evolution requirements in Gen 3 that take up a lot of time and effort. Having a complete national Dex for gen 3 is a flex that represents time and money spent, as well as some serious grinding.

Generation 3, Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire, came out in 2002 on the Gameboy Advance and Advance SP, two years before the Nintendo DS was first released. There are ways to acquire all the Pokemon more efficiently now, nearly two decades after people first started to pick apart Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald. Closer to when the games were released, if players wanted to have a complete national Dex for Gen 3 they'd need to buy Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Fire Red, Leaf Green, Colosseum, and XD: Gale of Darkness. Whereas nowadays, they can take advantage of the internet as well as some carefully exploited glitches.

RELATED: Pokemon Scarlet & Violet How to Get Growlithe and ArcanineRedditor u/sansyboi469 made the post on Dec. 30 where they held up his Gameboy Advance SP displaying the PC filled with Pokemon. The post shows them sliding through completed rooms on Bill's PC as they prove that they have every Pokemon and each evolution, even Jirachi, Deoxys, Celebi, and Lugia. Deoxys is only available to catch if players have an Aurora Ticket, which was an event ticket that wasn't widely distributed. Without it, players can't get to Birth Island hidden in the Sevii Islands where Deoxys appears.

Redditor sansyboi469 was able to acquire a game cartridge that put the Aurora Ticket, and Deoxys, in his game. For the other normally uncatchable Pokemon - Ho-oh, Lugia, Celebi, and Jirachi – they used a glitch. Since there was no other way, and they caught everything else fair and square, they get a pass. It takes a bit of ingenuity as well.

The glitch sansyboi469 used is called Glitzer Popping, which can only be done in Emerald. It allows a player to corrupt Pokemon in slots 1 and 2 by scrolling down below slot 256 in a player's party. The corrupted Pokemon are bad eggs that sometimes have glitch moves with beneficial effects, but other times they can produce glitched eggs that players can manipulate to create whichever Pokemon they want. Overall, the post shows just how dedicated Pokemon fans can be.

Pokemon Ruby,Sapphire and Emerald are available on Gameboy Advance, Gameboy Advance SP, and the Nintendo DS
