Pokemon Scarlet and Violet still have a lot of life in them, especially given the rumors of DLC. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet all but outright confirm Ultra Beasts in their DLC, as players get a Beast Ball when completing the Pokedex, but as far as the story, location, and new Pokemon go, many are eagerly awaiting a proper reveal. At this point, the likeliest location for that is Pokemon Day in February.
At the same time, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet kick off Gen 9 which could also include Pokemon Black and White Remakes, new experimental games, a new Legends game, and more. Eventually, however, Gen 9 will come to an end and Gen 10 will rear its head. The thing is, past games have done a good job of subtly teasing upcoming ones. For example, Pokemon Sword and Shield featured a Hotel wallpaper that had oranges and grapes on them, while Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl changed a normally white set of flowers to be scarlet and violet. This means that, somewhere in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, there could be some teases for Gen 10.
It may be harder to recognize these so far from the new gen, but there have been two discoveries in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet that may hint at Gen 10's region. They're not as subtle, though, so it's hard to say for sure.
Pokemon Gen 10 Could Head to Australia
With that caveat in mind, there is one exciting hint that Pokemon Gen 10 could take place in Australia. In the Academy's art classroom, there is a painting that seemingly depicts Uluru, a giant sandstone monolith found in Australia. It's pretty obviously a painting of that, suggesting it exists somewhere in the Pokemon universe, and its inclusion here means fans could head that way in the next generation. It could just be a throwaway or filler too, but there's no doubt Australia would be a great destination for a Pokemon game. Not only could it introduce some variety by including other parts of Oceania, but the wildlife of Australia could lead to some interesting new Pokemon.
Pokemon Gen 10 May Take Place in an Italy-inspired Region
Another possible hint may be found in the player's home in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. There is a painting there called "Street, Midday" and selecting the image confirms it reveals a beautiful town in a different region. However, it doesn't look like any known town in any Pokemon region, with some believing this potentially depicts an Italy-inspired region. This is because it could loosely resemble locations like Tuscany, Sicily, and Sardinia. Pokemon Gen 10 going to Italy would be interesting, though perhaps some fans would prefer the wilds of Australia instead.
Either way, fans are in for a long wait. Pokemon Gen 9 just kicked off, and 2023 is likely going to be dedicated to Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC. Ultimately what releases beyond that remains to be seen.
