Highlights

  • Cross-gen evolutions in Pokemon Gen 10 could bring new life to beloved Pokemon like Parasect, Fearow, Venomoth, Pinsir, and Eevee.
  • These evolutions could improve their lore, type combinations, movesets, and overall stats, making them more viable and powerful.
  • Fans are eager for new cross-gen evolutions, especially for Eevee, which already has multiple evolutions and could benefit from even more options.

Pokemon games are often filled with surprise additions that make long-time fans happy, such as callbacks to past entries in the franchise either through items, characters, or even the critters themselves, with cross-gen evolutions being a fan-favorite option. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's Kingambit took the internet by storm when it was leaked and then officially found in the game, not only because Gen 5 is often considered one of the best, but also because the Pawniard line always was a beloved one for many. As such, it would only make sense for Gen 10 Pokemon games to do something similar, albeit with different mons.

Ever since their introduction, regional forms have also been a success among fans thanks to their ability to breathe new life into evolutionary lines that needed some love or already popular ones, but cross-gen evolutions achieve the same result. Not only that, but sometimes cross-gen evolutions can make past forms even more viable thanks to Pokemon's Eviolite held item, which increases the defenses of an unevolved Pokemon. Although Kanto has many fully evolved pocket monsters, there are a few that would benefit from cross-gen evolutions.

Parasect

Parasect pokemon evolved

Pokemon Legends: Arceus' Paras and Parasect became infamously known for being extremely aggressive and irritating for players, but their lore has more in store for fans. Parasect is essentially controlled by a parasitic fungus, which makes Paras afraid to evolve and lose its free will. Since Parasect doesn't have a lot going for it compared to more recent additions to the Pokedex, it would greatly benefit from a cross-gen evolution in Pokemon Gen 10 to shake up its lore, type combination, and moveset.

Fearow

Pokemon fiercest birds fearow 4

Often compared to its Kanto brethren Pidgey, Pidgeotto, and Pidgeot, Fearow boasts a lower base stat total compared to Pidgeot, but a higher base Attack. Its type combination is not the best offensively, but it's not bad defensively, with three weaknesses, two resistances, and two immunities. A cross-gen evolution for Fearow has a lot of potential to make this bird-like creature much more powerful and fearsome as its name suggests.

Venomoth

Flying Pokemon

Although this Pokemon has a respectable move pool that's also varied enough, containing Psychic-type attacks despite Venomoth being a Bug/Poison hybrid, its base stat total prevents it from ever finding success. More recent additions, such as Sinistcha from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's The Teal Mask, tend to have better stats from the get-go as well as decent distributions, something that Venomoth could use. Considering that Bug and Poison is one of the worst type combos in Pokemon, a cross-gen evolution for this creature could fix that while also granting it better stats.

Pinsir

Pokemon Diamond and Pearl Pinsir

The general consensus is that Mega Evolutions are one of the best gimmicks in Pokemon, and while Pinsir did get its own, it never felt complete without it. Since modern games are built to feature each their own battle gimmick and focus on that exclusively, Mega Pinsir's return is seemingly out of the picture. However, the Pokemon could very much use some love in Pokemon Gen 10 games, and a cross-gen evolution would do it justice.

Eevee

Arguably the easiest case to make for a cross-gen evolution in Pokemon games is that of Eevee, a creature with multiple cross-gen evolutions already, and one that could very well have a dozen more. So far, the most recent new evolution for Eevee was Sylveon in Gen 6, but with Pokemon Gen 10 likely releasing near the 30th anniversary of the series, it would be a fantastic time to feature one or even multiple new cross-gen evolutions for this critter, and a lot of fans would be more than happy.
