A Pokemon fan has come up with a new monster design by fusing Hydreigon and Tropius together. Fan-made creations are very common in the Pokemon community, and plenty of illustrations can easily pass as official art pieces.

The three-headed Hydreigon, regarded by many as the strongest non-legendary Pokemon out of its fellow Generation 5 additions, is a Dark/Dragon-type that represents the final step in the evolutionary lines of Deino and Zweilous. Meanwhile, Tropius, introduced in the third generation of Game Freak's beloved RPG series, is a large Grass/Flying-type monster that has the appearance of a long-necked sauropod dinosaur. An artist has combined these two Pokemon into a single entity, creating a hybrid that would not look out of place among the franchise's most powerful beasts.

In a recent post on the Pokemon subreddit, user Nainteins shared their custom fusion between Hydreigon and Tropius. The unnamed design, which a community member claimed could be mistaken for an actual new Pokemon Mega Evolution, embraces more draconic features, and it utilizes Tropius' broad leaves as wings. Nainteins prepared two versions of their drawing, one that used Hydreigon's color scheme, and another that followed Tropius'.

Nainteins has come up with other unique combinations in the past, such as a hybrid Pokemon inspired by Togekiss and Chandelure. This fusion retained most of the former character's overall shape and silhouette, while the facial qualities were taken from the latter. Several commenters pointed out that this particular design looked like it was part of the world of Team Cherry's beloved 2017 Metroidvania, Hollow Knight.

Aside from Nainteins, other Pokemon fans have also drawn interesting monster fusions. Recently, Reddit user Environmental-Use494 shared their Heracross and Scizor hybrid Pokemon called Herazor. The original design, a Bug/Fighting-type, possesses a body that is as hard as steel, as well as large wings that can be used to threaten the Pokemon's enemies. Environmental-Use494, who also goes by the artist handle CaligoMilites, has shared many more combinations on their Instagram page, including a fusion between the Charizard and Dragonair named Dragozard.

Many fans expect Game Freak's next title, Pokemon Legends: Z-A, to introduce new monsters and evolutions. The upcoming game, which is scheduled to release on the Nintendo Switch in 2025, will be part of Pokemon's ongoing ninth generation. However, Pokemon Legends: Z-A will see the series return of Kalos, the setting of the Generation 6 entries, Pokemon X and Y.
